I just saw a sneak preview of this wonderful film by Ron Howard. Russell Crowe and Renee Zelwegger are superb, Paul Giamatti nearly steals the show and should get an Oscar nomination, and Broadway "hunk" Craig Bierko does a great job as the heavyhweight champion Max Baer - who was, according to this film, a thoroughly obnoxious, despicable prick.
Definitley one of the two best films of the year so far, along with CRASH.
Cannot wait to see this. I hope Giamatti (finally) gets a nomination, something that he richly deserved for his work in "Sideways". In fact, I still think he deserved Best Actor of 2004.
LOVED IT - and yes, Paul DID steal the show! He was better than RUSSELL F*CKING CROWE!
Renee isn't an actress. She's Renee Zellwegger in every movie she does! LOVED her in Chicago - it's the most I have seen her act - honestly.

This movie screams "Oscar bait." No doubt it will be well-crafted, tasteful, and completely lacking in anything resembling imagination or innovation. And of course I'll see it anyway, because I've been a Paul Giamatti fangirl ever since American Splendor.
Very Early for Oscar, but I hope it can hang on, at least for Paul, I told my friend after two close-calls, this third time will be a charm!!!!!!
Saw the sneak preview last night. The film is superb.
YAY.
Does a happy dance. How hot does Craig look.

He looks rather caveman-like in the movie, and the character is such a bastard, you just want him to get hit by a truck!
