CNN reporter, Poppy Harlow is getting much criticism for her reporting on the Steubenville rape verdict. Sometimes I think people just can't hear themselves speaking...or they'd stop.
POPPY is worried about the rapists' futures

I was a great student with a bright future ahead of me.
Want to know how I preserved that?
I DIDN'T F*CKING RAPE ANYONE.

I mean...you sort of get that response when a kid acts recklessly and tragedy happens ie drunk driving or texting while driving. But this is rape. I highly doubt they tripped right into the girl's vagina.
It's horrifying.

I'm supposed to feel sorry for these guys because they were 16? Promising football players? Straight-A College students?
I feel sorry for them alright. I feel sorry for their total lack of moral judgement that they CHOSE to rape an innocent girl. I don't care if alcohol was involved. They're 16, they shouldn't have been drinking in the first place.
For every choice we make in this life of ours there is a consequence.
This is the consequence of the choice they made.
I only have compassion for them in that I hope that they learn about the severity of their actions and in time they redeem themselves and become better human beings.

The whole thing is disgusting.
And CNN is rapidly turning not Fox News...

They deserve what they got and more. My empathy for these two went out the window the second they couldn't keep it in their pants.

This whole thing is just beyond words. What are these reporters thinking? I feel like the whole world has momentarily lost its moral compass.
Deeply disturbing.
This clip is spot on. Piercing in its satire and sickeningly close to reality.

what's sad is that I've worked with students who still don't know what rape is... hell i've worked with professors at universities who don't know what rape is... they all think that once sexy clothing is involved or just one alcoholic beverage means that girls are asking to be raped...
it's sad that people from all walks of life these days aren't seriously taught what rape is... and what it consists of...

Posted: 3/18/13 at 9:26pmSteubenville is like a mini-Penn State. The culture there with their football program, both of the convicted were on the football team and it is largely believed the head coach covered stuff up, seem to have a lot of people look away and be such apologists for the behavior. The Ohio AG had made it known there are more people he wants to try in this crime and cover-up. I think everybody in the state of Ohio feels dirty about this case. Even Ohio State made it known a Steubenville student who was on tape joking about the rape of the girl was no longer going to their university.

I did a quick search on what I thought was the rugby college rape from a few years back and found this. While the article itself is pretty straightforward, the comments are something else.

RAPED THAT GIRL. PERIOD.
The "It's only illegal if you get caught" mentality doesn't help the situation.
