Any turkey in the basket?
Not too bad here, should be a nice drive tomorrow. The kids are really excited.
We have three Bears games in December that should be cold!
Oooooh, Soldier Field in December. Brrrrrrrrrrrr. You rug up, Brd.
No turkey this time. But, I can offer you some spatchcock in blood plum sauce.

Cute, Somms! You did a good job!
My brother, sis in law and their canine son unexpectedly (to me, anyway), drove into Jersey Monday afternoon from Indiana. Second time in 6 months. Very unusual for them. Think they're realizing her folks are actually aging. So I'm taking the car for a long overdue oil change, then meeting up with them and her clan to go to some new outlets in Tinton Falls. I HATE shopping, but don't hardly see them, so I'm biting the bullet and going along.
Happy day before turkey day!!

'Morning everyone! I'm posting from home this morning because....I can! We're closed THROUGH MONDAY, but of course, workaholic that I am, I'm heading in for an hour or two today. Today's my wedding anniversary, so as much as I hate hitting the stores this time of year, I completely forgot about the day and I need to pick up a gift.
Hi girls!
Moony, it's his job to forget! Happy Anniversary to you and Mr. Moon!

Yeah, I guess I was counting on him to forget and he DIDN'T. Men. You can never count on them. There was a beautiful bouquet on the dining room table this morning.
Sweet!

Thanks guys!
So. My boss wanted to take the entire depatyment up to NYC via Acela, see a show and return in the evening on a Wednesday in December. We've done this every other year and the school pays. However, the economy being what it is, and my boss and I pretty much out of the Performing Arts Dept., the prinical said, "Sure, take the day off and go up, but the school can't pay for it." (which I think is fair)So Mr. Bossman says to me last night, "So go ahead and buy 6 tickets and 6 roundtrip Acela seats with your own credit card and we'll reimburse you next month." OK, I've been burned too many times in situations like this - ain't gonna happen again. Put over $2,000 on my card at Christmastime and then try to hunt people down for payment? Not happening on my card. It's not like I won't be up there the very next week, anyway (with people I like better).

Happy Anniversary, Mr. & Mrs. Moony!
And I wouldn't put it on my card, either, Moony - like you, I've been burned way too many times.
J2 is busy making the cornbread for the stuffing. MAKING it. Doesn't that stuff come in a box or something?

Sadly, Deet, I must make my own stuffing this year, too. Only, unlike J2, it's not because I want to do so. Hubby is on a wheat-free, gluten-free diet now and I have to make it from scratch with gluten-free bread. I'm not too hopeful so I've got a box of Stovetop in the pantry for us regular people.
lol, i don't know what you mean whiskers on kittens. Me? Chipper? What could be causing that? :)
Oh, he always makes his own stuffing - and I agree with that. I was just stunned that he MADE the cornbread for the stuffing. From scratch. I would have bought a box mix. Or a couple of muffins and crumbled 'em.
Here's the menu (which he just printed out)
Chestnut, Celery Root & Apple Veloute
Cranberry Compote
Golden Beet & Fennel Salad
Hazelnut Vinaigrette
Herb-Roasted Turkey with Gravy
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Cornbread & Sausage Stuffing
Orange & Star Anise-glazed Cranberries
Sweet Potato Mille-Feuille
Brussels Sprouts with Wild Mushrooms
Cheese Plate: Piper's Farm, Goat; Upland's Pleasant Ridge, Cow; Rogue River Blue, Cow. With the following accompaniments: Fig & Port Jam; Maple Orange Glaze
Pumpkin Marble Cheesecake w/ Creme Anglaise
Pear-Poire Williams Tart w/ Salted Caramel Ice Cream
Champagne and other appropriate wines will be flowing.
And he's making everything from scratch.
I'm peeling the potatoes.
Well, we're off to pick up the turkey! (No comments!)
