oh, that IS a shame, DD. I always love that picture.
Girly - she was incredible. The girls were spellbound. I sat next to her at breakfast and we regalled each other with Cajun jokes (we're both from Acadian families). I also told her about Brdlyr's comment.
Girly, I love your Avatar.

Mooney - you just nearly made me cry!

She was very touched by your hero comment. She wanted to know where you live and if you're involved in the fight to make Illinois a capital punishment-free zone. I told her your credentials and she said to keep on fighting the good fight. Then she asked if you were also working on the other Pro-Life issues.

I have worked for the Coalition Against the Death Penalty, but that was years ago. Well, I would have be on the other side of her on choice. Cardinal Bernadin was a proponent of the "seemless garment" in which you should support all life issues including opposition to war, the death penalty, and battling poverty.

Yes, she and I talked about the seemless garment concept. I'll tell you, Brd, she is SO compelling. I got teary several times during her talk. She spoke for over an hour and the girls were hanging on her every word. They had a chance to ask her questions after the talk and their questions were wonderful and showed a lot of informed thought on their part (I was afraid one of them would say something like "What's Sean Penn really like?"). I signed on to work on her doctor-induced execution moratorium program. We exchanged email addresses as she was leaving. I loved this day.

Tuesday all-afternoon conference call bite. I'm just sayin'.
Moony, that sounds wonderful!
Tink, that's great and it sucks! Oh, well. Monday's not too far away. I haven't even checked that thread today to see if anyone went last night.

I will send you an ironic PM.
I am so glad that you mentioned this last night. I have been so down (OK depressed) about the cost of C15's school, but your experience and your students reminds me that she will also have similar exceptional opportunities at her school due to the high profile and reputation of the school.
I heard Bernardin speak a few times, he was inspiring. Cardinal George is more conservative but a theological genius and a brilliant speaker. Mrs. Brd. (not catholic) and I had the opportunity to hear the Cardinal speak in a small setting about the election of the Pope. It was fascinating.

Brd, if you ever get the chance to hear Sister Helen speak - GO. She's so on target. And funny as all get out! A pint-sized dynamo.
What I also loved about her talk is how she continually wove the gospel of justice and servive to the poor and marinalized through her experiences. She's very rooted in faith. I was walking down the halway a minute ago and some students were still talking about her.
She sounds fascinating.
Looking to a slow afternoon - getting ready for the reading this evening.

Who knows? Maybe she will be at c15's school?
Hi DD! Damn, you are a busy man!
Hiya brd. Actually this is my slow month, though I'm going to two to three shows per week to make up for all the shows I've missed in the past two months.

That is nice! We are so busy that I told Mrs. Brd that tonight is like a Saturday night! No kid's activities and homework will be finished by the time I get home. We have to get up early on every weekend night, so there is no difference.
How inspiring, Moony! I'm glad you had such a great day at school.

Thank you!
I cannot wait until next Tuesday, my campaign obsession must end! I have read or watched every new story today!
I think many, if not most of us, cannot wait until Tuesday.
Congrats Brd!
If DG/Q emerges tonight - enable your PMs!
