In was at a wedding reception in Kansas recently and the DJ must have mentioned Brokeback ten times, and even the minister mentioned it during the rehearsal. Very bizarre.
*daydreams*
I'm imagining I'm in Paris...
In case any of you want to join me.
I'm not the most assertive person in the world, but I'm getting better at pulling people aside and asking them whether they had any idea how offensive their comments might be to some people when they say something derogatory. I don't know if I "fix" anything, but it makes ME feel better!
Pip, that's probably the best way to handle such situations.
An honest response to something, delivered in a calm and intelligent manner, can make a difference.
My favorite spot in Paris...
I don't like confrontation, so I seldom say anything to strangers, unless they are being really obnoxious.

It seems AddyAir may be pulled into service today . . . I'll make sure the bar is stocked.
DD - is that Himeji ?
Pip - glad you're taking the time to call people out on the stupid things they say. Little by little we can help make changes.
The views..... *sigh*
Looks like some things never change. Its amazing how ones words can be taken the wrong way to some and be profoundly funny to others. Makes me think of the phrase. Opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one
Yes it is, BT.
This is where my mind is...
True, Bobby...
Everybody needs to stop and think before they speak!
And, DG, it's a Friday... let's fuel that baby up and fly away!
(eek! edited before I get in trouble!)
Well, but I've also learned to stop and think when others speak. Someone will say something I might not find that funny at first, but before reacting I try to understand where they might be coming from, you know, what they might mean... and then it might not seem as offensive.

I'm READY, Addy!
I'm in the mood for some champagne and art - can we start here?
Good point DD.
DG, we can start and end right there. One of my favorite spots on earth!
Are we taking the train?
Planes, trains and automobiles!
oh, that's perfect!
Snack for the road...
What a grand trip!

A mid-afternoon repaste in Provence sounds nice.
*sigh*
On that note, I must attend to work. Continue on the loverly trip...
BT... thanks, now I'm totally craving sushi for lunch. And a saketini.
Oooh, I LOVE Provence! Can I come, too?? I know a great little chocolate shop in St. Remy!

Of course, Jungle - and knowing where good chocolate is gives you the golden ticket!
