Good morning!
Addict, those pups are adorable!
That was some crazy weather last night! The lightening lit up the room! I would have been scared, but I was busy watching Light in the Piazza, and was just too wrapped up in the beauty...
*hugs*
Girly....that Puggle is just too cute...you really need one in your life. It would be fun for us to go looking for one for you. Let's do it !!!

and yes boobs logan and toby need a lil sis
i thought this comment about the puggles was interesting:
"My husband and I have 2 puggles, a brother and sister. They are wonderful dogs, but the thing that people don't understand, is that they are a mix breed and they all end up looking differently. Our female looks like a pug and our male looks more like a beagle.
Not that it matters to us, but most people only have the idea of the puggle puppy and don't know too much about them. We have seen a lot of puggles lately, as they are so popular now, and they have all looked so different...color, size, features."
I was noticing that the other day, when addict said she got one and I went searching for a picture to post. The many different looks and colors they can be. I saw a pure black one, too. I don't know what I was thinking, but it never entered my mind that one could be black. Silly me!

Another fly by but hope everyone is keeping well.
Goodmorning all - Good to see the pugle discusion. Yes, it seems they can look very different. I think the tan color is more common but other colors are possible. I also think full grown size can vary a lot. Mine is about 13 lbs now and I'm hoping he stays in the mid 20 lb range. Wally is 3 months old, Star (schnauzer) is 2.5 years, and Josey (maniac mutt) is almost 4 years old. Boobs think twice about another puppy. It's like having another baby. Just like we forget the pain of childbirth, I forgot how much energy and time a puppy can be.

Addict..they are so cute !!!
...I want one! Let's all get puggles!
And, Kansas two days in a row! Hooray!

Good morning all. I'm discouraged about my diet this morning, so no scones for me. I'm blaming my struggles on cookie's French food yesterday.

Moony, sorry about the diet woes.
And puggles are adorable but another dog is another mouth to feed, etc. I say that because I've been hearing some interesting things about that lately: I know several couples who, as the last child was leaving the nest, decided to get a dog. What they later realized is that a dog is a permanent toddler. It will never grow into being able to let itself out, feed itself, etc.
Instead of being free to do/go where they please they need to factor in the dog and its routines. When they want to go on vacation or take a daytrip they now pay for kenneling and doggie daycare... No stopping for dinner on the spur of the moment if they have to be home to let the pooch out to do its business. So much for the freedom of the empty nest. (I try not to roll my eyes at their very startled comments.)
Don't get me wrong--I adore dogs. Love them! I just think first-time pet owners who are also hoping for more freedom because children are gone will be in for a BIG surprise.
Bboobs--have Toby and Logan been teasing for a little sister?

Thanks, beacs. And I agree completely with you regarding the empty nest doggie - which is why I don't have one. A neighbor of mine bought a sheepdog puppy a year and a half ago when all her kids were gone. She has a job that keeps her away from the house a lot and the puppy kind of raised and trained himself. I ran into her last night and she's talking about adopting the dog out now - too unruly, won't listen, hard to handle, destructive, etc. You can't just bring a puppy home and hope it can go on autopilot!
You are exactly right Beacon. Now it is hard for my husband and I to go on vacations together because we have to find someone to watch the dogs. If we go on separate vacations someone is always home to dog sit. On second thought maybe that is not a bad idea!!

beacs, I agree with everything you said. People have to realize the committment they're making when they bring home a dog.
However, when it comes to the elderly it's been shown that having the companionship of a pet, and having the responsibility for caring for one, can be extremely beneficial.
Where's mom?
