Wow - I remember those dolls...
if I remember correctly they came in different themes - like graduations, weddings
and all different sizes.
Troll dolls..
those were them NYadgal.
Loved tye dyed shirts, especially with a peace sign hanging around my neck.
and tying my hair back in a bandana.
Now I think they refer to them as do-rags...
I wasn't a hat person but I did have a jean hat with studs like the hats that Donny Osmond and Tony DeFranco wore.
I remember those...
and jumpsuits were in for a while...for both boys and girls.
David Cassidy always looked hot in his...
I had a jumpsuit, but only wore it in variety shows that I did.
Did have a pair of emerald green satin pants.
you've got me beat on that one...never had satin pants!
I remember loving the Carnaby Street 'look' - Mary Quant look of mini skirts and tights... (back to the 60s!)
and I always thought Julie Christie was beautiful...
I've got to go make dinner and start to get ready for the week...
Have a great evening.
Thanks for all the fun this weekend, and I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow at some point.

leisure suits + gold chains. THE look, right???
Clue: I always wanted to be Miss Scarlet
Monopoly: Liked being the car (rather drive than walk...) and
hated being the banker.
Prom Theme: "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Croft
Home Ec class: We made skirts and then actually had to wear
them as part of our final grade... it was so embarassing
Does anyone remember the cowboy "action" figure "Johnny West" and his wife Jane. They had a "ranch" with a corral. They were a bit larger than GI Joe and Barbie and were made out of hard plastic. Their clothes were molded on but you had "add" on clothing that was made of a rubbery material with little "pegs" and holes to fasten them together...

Danny Kaye in Hans Christian Anderson: Loved the title song and loved the Ugly Duckling song. "There once was an ugly duckling..."
Jerry Lewis: Cinderfella (my parents woke me up so I could
watch it.)
"To Tell the Truth" and "What's My Line": Which one had Kitty Carlisle on it--always dressed as if she were going to a Broadway premiere. And Arlene Francis...

I was a toddler for JFK's, so I don't remember too much. I do remember leaning up against my dad's chair and watching JFK, Jr. at the funeral cause he was little like me. My dad told me years later that I kept talking about the little boy for days after that.
The Robert F. Kennedy family always fascinated me because they had so many kids. I wanted to have that many kids in my family. I remember RFK's funeral train was going thru Elizabeth and my parents and brother were going up there to watch it pass by, but I had to go to my grandmother's house.
I have a NY Daily News from the day after JFK was shot in fairly decent condition. Found it in my dad's desk years ago.

I remember I was 3 yrs. old when JFK was shot...I believe the same age as John John... I just remember sitting on the floor coloring in front of the TV and my Mom crying hysterical behind me on the couch and not understanding why Mommy was crying but figuring it had something to do with what she was watching on TV.
Anyones parents embarrass them in front of their friends by trying to sing a "pop" song, but not knowing the right words. Mom, God Bless her, did it to me all the time. Two of my favorites were: Andy Gibb song..."For so long, you and me been finding each other for so long"....Mom's version..."False Alarm, you and me been finding each other, False Alarm." Maybe it was just the Gibb Bros.? "More Than A Woman" she thought was "Four Legged Woman" LOL !!! Not funny at the time. She got many eye rolls from me.
My folks never did that, though when my dad and I used to go grocery shopping, he used to "dance" the cart down the aisle and make funny faces at people when they had their backs turned. Drove me crazy, but I miss that now.
My cousin, though, should have know better. She was singing along with the radio, "Hey Maybelline". I looked at her and said what are you singing??? She repeated it. The song was "8 Days A Week". I left the room.

Wow, I missed alot inthe past couple of days (Very good job folks!)
I hate coming in after JFK. I was really young (like 7 months old) so I have no real memory of the event, but RFK I remember.
Man on the moon? yOu bet! My parents had a house full of people, including one of my favorite uncles. My mom woke me up so I could watch Mr. Armstong make history. When he was safely down the ladder and on the surface, I got so excited that I ran out on to our porch and looked up and was in such awe! It was then that my uncle came out and started to explain to me how it all happened. (He was an engineer, although not at NASA)
He is now quite ill w/ Alzheimer's , but he rembers that night, with me on the porch.
Welcome back Mom..we missed you this weekend at our pajama party..how was the City?? Did you and the hubby have fun??? wink, wink
BWboobs, my mom used to sing the wrong lyrics to songs all the time. It used to drive me crazy espcially with the disco numbers. According to mom she "loved the nightlights, loved to boogie" and played "the street lights." She apparently thought General Electric controlled the music industry.
Now, imagine what it was like to have mom ask you to teach her The Bump and The Hustle. Scarey.
Geez....you go away for one week-end and another 30 pages added. Do I have to read 30 pages??
If this has been said, you can shoot me later.
My mom always thought the song, I believe in Miracles, where ya from you sexy thing by Hot Chocolate was, I believe in Malcolm
Nina...that's hysterical. Parents, what would we do without them growing up? I'd give anything now to hear my Mom sing the wrong words to a song.
I still don't know the words that follow "blinded by the light" but they sound kinda dirty.
Or is it "blinded in one eye?"
Zola, the actual words are:
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Zola, I know exactly what you think the lyrics are. i thought the same thing. Thanks BWBoobs for clearing that one up. It nevre made sense to me the way I was hearing it.
My mother sings a split second behind the singer on the radio and then claims she knows the song when it's clear she doesn't. She also sings about an 1/8th of a tone sharp but thinks she's really good.
