Oh man, grade 11 isn't nearly as bad as grade 12. Luckily they stagger all of your due dates so you're not totally overwhelmed. But a tip - the IB exams are REALLY easy (but you'll have to study like a mofo for history). The chemistry exam is supposed to be brutal.
And you should start researching your extended essay like, this spring. Pick your topic ASAP.

No problem. I really enjoyed IB, in retrospect. I've been trying to sell Som on it for a while now. Oh yeah, your extended essay - easiest to do History. Science ones tend to be marked low, and English tends to be tedious. But there's a lot to argue about History. (My topic was "Why Germany was not the cause of World War I")
GAH! We're talking about school!
So I'm not in IB cuz I go to a private school...but supposedly the honors track I'm on is modeled after it. If it is, I pity you guys.

All this IB talk is making me sick. I almost applied for the IB program, but then I regained my common sense.
I'm being pressured by my teachers to take all AP academics next year...I actually might, though. I mean, I'm always saying I want to fast forward ahead and be in college...and at least that way I wouldn't have to put up with all the stupid people in my classes...

I don't have common sense or anything better to do with my time, so I figure I might as well go for it and get into a good school.
Exactly...besides which, I want to double major in college, so whatever introduction credits I can get out of the way now help.
Yeah... I think I just might take AP englist next year and thats all of my advanced classes i'm taking

Apparently AP teaches to the test and IB is more for creativey people, so that's why I'm drawn to it. I hate classes that consist soley of note taking and bigass scantron tests.
I'm in AP Euro now...I'm definitely taking AP English and AP US History next year...my chem teacher is pushing me to take either AP Bio or AP Chem next year too, but I still need to take physics sometime in the next two years, so I'm not sure about that. I'm also thinking about AP Music Theory, but I don't know whether it'll be offered again next year.

take a nap!
Delphine, I've never been part of someone's signature before! I'm honored!
my advice with the AP tests and classes- run like hell! maybe take 1 or 2 in subjects you're stellar at, but don't ruin your last year or two of high school by trying to win some sort of AP pissing contest. a kid in my graduating class set the record by getting a 4 or 5 on 22 different tests (breaking the record of 19 set by his chem teacher 10 years earlier), went to Duke, realized he was unhappy, and moved back home, which he hates too. the average senior was taking 3 AP classes and 4 AP tests, the entire top 25% of the class had 4.0 or higher, and most didn't get into schools nearly as "good" as some of us slacker drama kids (3.0 weighted and I got into UC San Diego). I saw a lot of unhappy people that year.
and also, AP Music Theory is supposed to be insane!

Yes, but I've been taking theory classes for 11 years. I can't imagine it would be *that* hard for me. Besides which, I adore the teacher who teaches it.
The thing for me is that I can only motivate myself to work if it's actually hard. So I get better grades in harder classes. I have a 97 in AP Euro and only a 90 in English because I'm bored to death and don't put the work in. And the AP teachers at my school seem to be some of the few who aren't also coaches, which means they actually have time to teach.
hey if you're doin it, you're doin it! and more power to you! just trying to remind all you end-of-high-schoolers not to forget to have a little fun. walk through those halls as the superior people you are! grades and college are important, no doubt, but not at the sacrifice of your joy. but you all are theatre people, so I have a feeling that shouldn't be a problem.

Nah, I do have a life. Sort of. Or at least, a life beyond school. I just can't stand sitting in class listening to people asking the teacher if London is in England or France. I kid you not. That actually happened.

Shalom leculam! I get to take a 4 hour test tomorrow and 2 hours of it is in HEBREW! I have one 20 minute break in between. Joy. And I get to wake up early! I hate being in Yeshiva.

*sniff* It was fun being in a signature... I guess I have to say something memorable now so I can get back in.
I have a 150 word Spanish paper to write on a video series we watch in class that I can't ever pay attention to. Joy.
IB! I loved my IB theatre project. I did Look Back in Anger for my written project and Aoi No Uye (Princess Hollyhock) for my oral. I did alright with them. got myself a distinguishable 4. Those project were so much fun.
