I feel that Cate Blabchett[now that was NOT a deliberate mistake] seems to be going down the Nicole Kidman route with some arty misfires.

After winning two Oscars for imitating other actresses, she's evidently going to go for a third. At least no American actors will be harmed in the debacle. There'll be lots of "Laughing On The Outside, Crying On The Inside" tearful closeups in between hyper-articulate rants and arguments. Man is this going to suck.

I assume this is going to be about Desi, a talented genius show runner who has to deal with his annoying girlfriend, Lucille, right?
Blanchette is dead-on casting. Emma Stone is the age for NYC modeling/RKO B movies era Lucy. Since this is based on the I Love Lucy-era, Blachette, who is 47 and looks much younger, is closer to 40, the age Lucille was when she started the series.

I just can't get excited about this. Why bother? While a lot of people liked her as Katharine Hepburn, I was not a fan. She's no Meryl Streep. But to play Lucy? She'll need a case of Vitameatavegimen!

This is really interesting. Personally, I love Sorkin. But the fact that people aren't excited about Blanchett taking on this role fascinates me. It's not just here but all over Facebook that I'm seeing the same reactions to, again, arguably one of the greatest screen actresses of all time taking on one of the most iconic women of all time just seems like it would have naturally had people pissing themselves with excitement. And the fact that it's not doing that confuses me. I, for one, think it's going to end up being astounding.

I think Blanchett is descending into Streep syndrome. It doesn't matter how great she is, the contrarian nature that the internet brings out in so many people gives them the need to post how they are "so sick of her," and question whether she's now the "only actress we ever see."

I almost always hate biopics of people as iconic as Lucy. NO ONE can do her justice. No matter who plays her I'll spend the entire time thinking how much she doesn't have what Lucy had. Same goes for Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland and anyone else with that big of a talent/persona. If you're not them, I'm going to spend the whole time thinking about how you're not them.
