Given his Superbowl Detroit's Back commercial, WTF? If Romney had his way, Detroit would be dust! And can anyone imagine the flack if Obama had Streisand as a warm up act?
Then there was the armed Good, Bad & Ugly silhouette that set him up? Nice touch RNC, especially the rifle.

I was trying to think what "This" reminded me of and then it hit me:
Olivier's acceptance speech @ the Oscars where just his status, his own tone and word choices convinced the audience they were were listening to greatness, instead of an incoherent ramble.
Mr. President and Governors of the Academy, Committee Members, fellows, my very noble and approved good masters [these last seven words were from Othello], my colleagues, my friends, my fellow-students. In the great wealth, the great firmament of your nation's generosity, this particular choice may perhaps be found by future generations as a trifle eccentric, but the mere fact of it--the prodigal, pure, human kindness of it--must be seen as a beautiful star in that firmament which shines upon me at this moment, dazzling me a little, but filling me with warmth and the extraordinary elation, the euphoria that happens to so many of us at the first breath of the majestic glow of a new tomorrow.
"From the top of this moment, in the solace, in the kindly emotion that is charging my soul and my heart at this moment, I thank you for this great gift which lends me such a very splendid part in this, your glorious occasion. Thank you."
At least there was no chair!

I was reminded of Bette Davis' Oscar rumblings when she went off meds/script and praised a very embarrassed Robert Wise.
But she and Laurence were not at a political convention.

In addition to being for marriage equality .... he's also pro-choice and pro-ecology, believing in global warming.
Exactly how is he a Republican again, let alone a poster-boy keynote speaker for their big "tent revival" the other night?
Oh, wait! He's a MODERATE Republican ... so few in existence these days, it's hard to believe it when you see one. And so not in tune with the party's adopted platform.
