Sophia was nominated for worst dancing by a Latina onstage in history at The Grammys earlier this month. Her baby daddy "Magic Mike 2: 2 Tinies from The Roids" was there to support her.

Spotlight was a solid, but plain film. It dealt with an extremely important subject, but it felt emotionless to me. I saw it three times and always expected it to amaze me, but I was always left with the feeling that it was just a bland movie. I thought that Room and Brooklyn were far superior.
I'm happy for Brie and Leo though.

SPOTLIGHT was so incredibly dull and unremarkable. Middle-of-the-road filmmaking at its best only considered for all these awards because of the subject matter, which yes is obviously important but that doesn't mean this film was any good or interesting or powerful or whatever people are telling themselves about it.

The only movie I saw was Spotlight, which I thought was excellent and deserved the win. That said, even if I didn't like it I'm glad that the stupid movie about an awards-hungry actor getting attacked by a bear didn't win.
Gaga was brilliant, and that song easily should have won. Plus, Sam Smith continues to be the most tiresome kind of gay man, and also isn't the first openly gay man to win an Oscar. But good for him, I guess.

Gee, Icecreambenjamin, you saw Spotlight 3 times. Although it was okay for a one time viewing, three times....I just couldn't. I at least prefer it over the dumb plot holes of Mad Max Fury Road. I didn't see any of the telecast. I was watching in concert The Australian Bee Gees (????!!) who were suprisingly good. Can anybody discuss what was great or not so great about host Chris Rock?

Wow this thread was like Chris Rock hosting the Oscars......trying way too hard. What a headache inducing read.
Anyway away from the moronic statements by a certain poster, I was pleased for Spotlight but thought The Big Short was a much stronger film.
As much as I don't like Gaga or her over 'emotional' performances when she jumps on a cause to flog, she should have got best song ( or Warren should have got best song), the Bond Song is awful. And Sam Smith was terrible.
strange year this year, some awards seemed really all over the place, guess it's better than years when it's predictable from start to finish though.
Now, back to the sassy and 'witty' comments by middle aged gay men, back to you Namo

And yes I'm 36 and I was simply saying that this thread just seemed pointless and bitchy, especially when it came to Spotlight, the poster didn't like the film so resorted to non stop bitching about it because it wasn't to his taste.

Spotlight's lean, restrained economy and general lack of emotional manipulation is what made it so great. It mostly kept the storytelling simple and straightforward. It generally avoided the kind of emotional condescension many screenwriters and directors - even some very talented ones - might have hit us over the head with. This is a story whose poignancy is readily apparent without pyrotechnic displays.
