This part of the board has gone rather flaccid in recent weeks. I thought I'd liven things up by asking if there are any actual Trump supporters still around here? If you respond, I promise to tell you why you're stupid.

I have never worn one (or own one) and to be honest, I have not seen many people wearing one when I have traveled around the country. At this point, I think they have become so "toxic" and even his supporters are "over" wearing one for the most part.
A better topic to liven things up would be about the war against Iran or something like whether the "filibuster" in the Senate should be abolished.

Sondheim references always welcome, even in this context.

Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney are the only Republicans I respect due to them breaking with the party and questioning what the hell was going on many years ago. This article he wrote is fantastic and really explains some of the things Rapey McCheese does and why.
The MAGAts (here and elsewhere) will never admit they were wrong of course, but he doesn't have much support anymore and the MAGAt movement is basically over. I hadn't seen a red hat in a long time, but I was recently having a cocktail in Bronxville, and this smug asshole came in, wearing the hat (wrong town/state buddy) and started spewing about "Trump Derangement Syndrome". We mocked and laughed him right out of the bar, it was beautiful. Folks who still believe in that Cult at this point have no place in society and should disappear into the woods to live out their shame, but due to their stupidity, don't feel a thing.
The Humiliation Is the Point

When I come to NYC next month for first time ever I am so tempted to go TRUMP towers and have a MAGA burger! The only thing that puts me off is it says you have to dress smart and that’s not an option #lazy

Yeah, MAGAts generally shop at Tractor Supply for their clothing and don't know what a tie is, bless your black hearts. Enjoy our Liberal Democratic City, Flash! ![Does anyone still wear a [MAGA] hat?](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/78/16/a4/7816a4cd50d22aa034fd1c48dccbc55b.gif)

I like to watch BBC News, PBS News Hour, BBC World News America, and DW News (all on PBS). Additionally, I like the Sunday morning "Meet the Press", "Face the Nation", and "This Week w/George Stephanopoulos" (although George seldom appears).
It's VERY clear from watching world news (not the same-titled program on abc TV) that much of the world (especially our allies) are no longer willing to give Trump an ounce of respect, or acknowledgement as a "leader". They are very, very open about their disappointment with the US under Trump.
It's encouraging to see the number of Republicans who are now publicly speaking out against Trump, also. (It's amazing what a little mid-term can do.)
I am absolutely certain that Trump is aware of his current loser status. I know he's aware because of his outrageous and obstinate behavior (typical child with no love from mumsy or daddums).
Another cue is the fact that neither he, nor his VP have the b@lls to show their faces anywhere near Iran (and he should be afraid to do so). He's sending Kushner and Witkoff instead.
Trump is Toast - and he knows it. So... anyone who still wears a MAGA hat is obviously too stoopid to be as afraid as Trump is.

Actually, the opposite is true. They are more disappointed with, for example Keir Starmer in the UK, where crime rates are skyrocketing. For example, between 2000 and 2025, rapes in the UK went from 8593 per year to 78109 per year. In contrast, in Poland, where the leaders support Trump and where they have realistic and respectful policies, rapes went down from 2399 in the year 2000 to 1127 per year in 2025.
Also, for example, when the islamic regime in Iran was slaughtering 40.000 innocent civilians in just 3 days over their opinion and was busy making nuclear bombs and announcing that the destruction of the west is the goal, Trump stepped in and many leaders are extremely grateful for that. They visited Trump over the last weeks to thank him.
If it wasn't for him, 3000 years of civilization in the western world would be destroyed within 30 years. But not only because of Iran, also because of the millions of migrants and islamists coming in each year. Many cities now have an islamic majority. Politics and municipal councils are changing. Rules are changing, how women are allowed to dress in the streets, whole neighbourhoods where there are no dogs allowed, Christmas celebrations forbidden in schools, schools that teach to hate the west. That Jihad is the only goal. That Jews and homosexuals and christians must be hunted. We have seen it in all countries where they become a majority. After that, leftists will go. The history of Iran is the blueprint. Please take a good look at NYC in the next 10 years. One day will understand.
Here is a member of the European Parliament, Dominik Tarczyński who explains it very well:

Politico Europe is generally regarded as having a left-of-center bias in its reporting. Also, a big portion of the media is guilty of this, which can cause a certain part of the population to believe it, resulting in these kind of "popularity polls". People who are actually aware of the facts, crime rates, rape numbers, economy, safety, health, poverty, islamization, nuclear threats from Iran, Jihad, are all very much against Starmer. And pro-Trump.

"a left-of-center bias"? ...and "a big portion of the media is guilty of this".
Seb, you expose your own bias when you write using such negatively-charged language when speaking of those whose opinions differ from your own.
Why do you chose to write as if being "left of center" is implicitly bad, or wrong? I think it would be fantastic if everyone in the world were "centrist", but that's neither truthful nor based in reality.
There is no "guilt" or "wrongfulness" in having ideas, viewpoints, or ideologies that are "left of center". Your own words demonstrate that you, yourself are not centrist. And if "a certain part of the population" believes it, that means that it's popular with that "certain part of the population" - nothing more, nothing less.
Certainly nothing to downgrade or condemn.

I think the core of this discussion is about facts and numbers, crime rates, rape numbers, economy, safety, health, poverty, islamization, nuclear threats from Iran, Jihad, etc. Real dangers. Measurable facts. And less about being judged for looking away and how to handle those feelings.

Funny you think that is the “core” of this discussion since you always defend the orange rapist criminal who has ruined the economy, taken away healthcare, etc. But keep humiliating yourself with your ridiculous posts. You are in a cult.

Thanks for reposting these wise words.
They were very relevant to the discussion back then, but even more relevant today.
One day you will stop looking away.

Just an aside.... John, if you have a smart TV, DW has an app with all of the news and more. You can watch it live and select programming you like.
I also watch NHK World, out of Japan. They do hourly news and have in depth news programs also. I also watch Al Jazeera via their app on my TV.

Al Jazeera is a state-owned broadcaster of Qatar. That country has a dictatorial regime that supports fundamentalist Muslims worldwide, including members of terrorist organizations such as Hamas. For any reputable journalistic organization or person in general, Al Jazeera is an insurmountable problem.

I am well aware of the controversy around them. I like to watch news from all angles to see what is being put out there, especially outside of the U.S.
