I wonder when they will reveal that Vivi was actually kidnapped by Cathy from a maternity ward.

Not if. WHEN.

That little girl is SO Law and Order: SVU.

haha, now we've gone from the ridiculous to the sublime. Calling the cops because some friends asked about your engagement ring?

I'd like to meet the precinct that issues restraining orders barring friends from talking about a subject you don't like.

The writers on this show are smoking too much weed. or something.

Just saw the episode and where to even begin...

First of all, if anyone other than MADDIE'S MOTHER had that meltdown and threatened to pull her girls from the competition, Abby would have kicked her out, punished the child, and made them BEG to come back. So what does Abby do? Blame the other moms for something she knew nothing about and then drag the girls into it and talk trash about their mothers. And when Abby is called out on her hypocrisy, she insults them.

Secondly, Melissa is the queen of passive-aggressive phoniness. Did she think she was actually fooling anyone with the "It's not MY lawyer!" blather? She crawls up Abby's ass and will happily agree with Abby on anything as long as Maddie is kept on her pedestal. And if you wear an engagement ring, you do it to SIGNAL others you're engaged and want to be acknowledged. When you stop wearing it, people will notice. If you don't want to talk about it, just say, "I don't want to talk about it" and end the discussion. What you DON'T do is participate in the discussion, halt it suddenly, blame everyone else, throw a tantrum, and then THREATEN TO SUE. Unless you've signed up for a reality show, of course.

Third, that Melissa/Jill scene was so staged. Three cameras! I was looking for the cue cards. Jill is the worst actress ever. God, that was awkward to watch.

Fourth, please cut Cathy from the show. Her obsession with Abby is embarrassing, her behavior is tacky, Vivi needs the time for shock treatments, and her studio isn't that great. As soon as that one girl was off, I spotted the ankle injury immediately. Then it was frightening to watch when she continued. I felt so awful for her.

Fifth, Abby is okay with third place for the group number ONLY because they beat Cathy after Cathy's group had that horrible injury. Seriously? Way to be supportive and encouraging. You make negative reinforcement sound so HAPPY.

I'm ok with all that. It's the drama and the fun of watching the show, for me anyway.

The ridiculous thing is the whole police/restraining order which we're supposed to believe could ever happen. It's even worse writing than the latter months of All My Children!

Personally- I really hate that the talentless moms are getting celebrityhood when it's their daughters who have the talent- dance-wise that is. Those poor little girls CANNOT act! (off-stage that is!) I'm also looking forward to Miami because I know, they have really good dancers there and I can only imagine the drama in English and Spanish!

LIFETIME yanks the Fan Dance. Gosh...I wonder why? I mean what could possibly be wrong with sexualizing a group of pre-teen girls?

Stay classy, Abby

If I ever ran into Cathy, I might shove an apple down her throat and choke her with her damn fur collars. Okay, I wouldn't, but still. Oh, that woman annoys the PISS out of me. I don't think she adds anything to the show. If anything, she takes away from it.

And they took a kid by ambulance for an ankle injury?!

But JerseyGirl- it's all staged! On the show- it's Abby that demeans the girls and berates them. I haven't seen Cathy do that. Personally, I don't really like either of them. Although Abby is way more Machiavellian (did I spell that right?) I don't think either of them is professional. My 17yo daughter has been dancing since she was 5. Her studio is Russian and they don't do competitions. They also do NOT allow the parents to watch the classes. They get to do that once a year. It's way too distracting for the kids to have their moms watch. The only "drama" I used to notice with the moms in our studio was when some girls were put in older dance classes and didn't deserve it- talent wise. Usually, that drama was justified. Other than that, we didn't sit around discussing our girls. My daughter did take a class from one studio that did competitions and those kids were so focused on competitions that they didn't work on their technique- they were awful dancers! The teachers at my daughter's studio would never talk to their students like Abby does and would never call them out for their moms- but our studio isn't staged either!

I guess Cathy just annoys me because she was only introduced to cause drama. Abby is just Abby. I don't know why I don't hate her. lol THIS is why I don't watch this kind of crap!

I know what you mean! However, I do believe there is plenty of drama without Cathy. I guess the producers felt like they had to add a rival studio and my guess is- no one else signed up! I watch Dance Moms to see the dancing. I hate the moms and their drama and I really hate the bad acting and the celebrityhood of people who don't deserve it. I can't wait for Miami!

Miami looks interesting. I'm intrigued by the Sassy Gay Dance Instructor to see if he's going to be anything other than a cartoon.

Okay, so it was a big honor for Abby Lee Dance Company to be invited to dance for the Joffery Ballet School, but Cathy "heard" there were "open auditions" and took her girls. How's that?

I have to say that it touched me (just a little, lol) to see Abby's breakdown. It may have been a scripted moment on a trashy reality show, but it came full circle. The downfall of the dictator. I wonder if this was the real ending for Abby or will there be another season for her?

Jane- it's not the end as the show starts back in June. I did think it was incredibly hypocritical of Abby in the way she was acting. I guess Abby doesn't practice what she preaches. I was also glad that the Joffrey people hated most of Abby's dancers- I knew they would! All those tricks are not dancing and are rather annoying. Anyway, I watched the Miami Moms and was very disappointed. Those kids weren't nearly as talented as Abby's- not even close. the little boy and girl were cute but overall- not EVEN on the same level!

And how about Chloe getting the nod from Joffrey but not Maddie?

Maddie doesn't handle not being first very well, does she? Did Abby just have a bit of a meltdown or what? That seemed severely out of character. It was probably for dramatic effect, but the moms were absolutely right. Abby is mean when the other girls forget their numbers.

I think that meltdown was symbolic of a lot more than Maddie's error.

As soon as they said Joffrey- my daughter and I both said Chloe would get chosen. To us, she has the most beautiful lines! I love her legs and feet. There is also a scene that wasn't shown on the show with a NY choreographer who also praised Chloe. Abby was kissing up to that choreographer the whole time. It's on their website. We really like Chloe but I can't stand her mom! Maddie does not have good sportsmanship at all. She will have to work on it. She was basically having a panic attack! I know it's all staged but some of it isn't. It is nice that Chloe always get selected for the professional jobs though!

Gotta disagree here re Maddie's sportsmanship.

I thought she showed unbelievably good sportsmanship throughout the entire series. She smiles when others do well. She peeks through the curtain when they're on stage and shows delight when they accomplish something special. She hugs Chloe and the other girls whenever they do well. Whenever she's not at the top of the pyramid, and Abby explains why, she nods her head in compliance.

I've never seen her show a bit of sour grapes. Not even this time. She's been built up to be the best-not her fault- it's everyone else's. Of course she expected to be chosen by Joffrey. She's only a young child. If it were me, I'd be more than crying. I think she's a well adjusted little girl. At least that's what I infer from the show's editing! I am sure it was editing, but it seemed her little temper tantrum with her mom was a bit over the top. I can completely understand her getting upset with herself when she forgot her routine, but Abby handled it completely wrong. Telling the other girls to stay away from her and crying was over the top.

I think Chloe's mom is funny.

Maddie has to overcome a mother who is completely ridiculous. I do think that Maddie expects more because her mom and Abby seem to keep telling her that she's the best. It's also obvious that this show has pinned the girls against each other. Maddie and Chloe clearly are the best dancers. Brooke and Paige are more like rhythmic gymnasts. I do see your point Jane and in the particular episode, they chose to show Maddie having a meltdown. I'm also surprised that these girls don't know how to handle themselves when they forget. I can say this because when my daughter was their age, she would ad lib if she forgot and it never showed. These girls have competed long enough to know better. My daughter said is surprised that they have to have new dances every week and they're competing against girls and groups who compete the same dance each week. That's a setup for failure. Abby was very wrong in this episode. It was pathetic! And yet- I watch!

I don't care who writes for her, but Christi is hlarious and fabulous. I also ADORE how sassy Holly is. Melissa, however, makes me want to punch a baby.

Yeah, Melissa annoys the crap out of me. Love the other moms. Kristin Wiig should play Melissa in some kind of sketch, but I am sure they would have Keenan play Holly, which would piss me off.

BUT now you guys have me wondering about Maddie. She does seem like the kind of kid who would just keep going. She knows 1000 dances, since they ridiculously learn a new one each week. All of her lyrical pieces seem pretty similar. Whenever another kid forgot their dance, there was that pause, deer in the headlights look, and then either a keep going or a stage exit. Maddie was doing very well then just ran off in hysterics. Was it scripted? Was the whole thing scripted to set up the finale before the break?
