Posted: 1/30/13 at 5:36pmI don't think I saw that one? I coached cheerleading for 9 years and most of the moms were great. I did have one that thought it was ok to come into my classroom while I was teaching and expect me to stop and talk to her about competition though. Cray cray.

Posted: 1/30/13 at 5:50pmI don't understand these shows where the parents are allowed to watch practices. My dance studio had a waiting room for parents, but there were no windows for them to watch. The only time parents were allowed to watch was on 1 visitation day a year and the recitals, of course. There were no crazy parents at my studio that I know of either.

Posted: 1/30/13 at 8:52pmI coached a dance team for 3 years and I had the same mentality but I was also very tough. I refused to let parents in to practices, if girls forget a piece of a uniform I got a lap for each piece.

Posted: 1/30/13 at 9:01pmI read an interview today (I'll try to find it) that Abby told producers she felt that it was becoming more the drama and not about the girls dancing and if they didn't balance it out she'd pull the plug and she feels they balanced it out.

Well, this is a Lifetime show. While watching the girls dance is enjoyable, I know that's not what Lifetime wants. If it was, they might as well just show the practices and competitions and nothing else.
I heard somewhere, this was according to someone on IMDB, so I'm taking it with a gallon of salt, that the 1 episode happened because the moms were having a contract dispute with Lifetime. That was the whole replacement team and sit out in the parking lot. I'm also finding it a little ridiculous that the girls are all suddenly wearing their hair like Sophia too.

Posted: 1/30/13 at 9:28pmJudging from this week's episode, Abby's idea of "balancing it out" is giving the girls less opportunities to dance and punishing them for stuff they didn't do. Abby creates the drama because she LOVES it. She knows what side her bread is buttered on and if she doesn't act like a completely irrational self-centered psycho, then there would be no show and she'd go back to being the nobody she was. The whole Chloe thing this week is the perfect example. Same thing with Makenzie. The amount of stress she dumped on that little girl just before her solo was ridiculous. Her little breakdown with Maddie was shameful. And the choreography of that group routine was embarrassing. And it was all Abby's fault. But after blaming the girls, she then tells the girls they are being punished because of their mothers. The woman is completely off the rails.

Posted: 1/30/13 at 10:26pmMatt- COMPLETELY agree! This show has jumped the shark and it will be interesting if they do another season because Rep Murt just signed a child labor law regarding kids and filming that is now in effect. Even though I believe what Abby has been doing is completely staged, I don't believe the girls crying is. No little girl should be put through all of that. She does create the drama by allowing the moms to watch- she should NOT allow that at all. Bringing in all those replacement girls is just wrong because they were not trained by her. Abby is a Machiavellian tyrant who in my opinion is just wrong! Those little girls should feel happy to dance not demeaned and I'm sorry but acrobatic dance is not really dance and a lot of ballerinas and Broadway dancers cannot do gymnastics! And yet- I watch-lol!
