Posted: 4/8/12 at 3:59amGood point onMaddie's mistake and if it was scripted. I have two thoughts-1. do they really script the little girls? I don't know about that, hmmm. 2. Maybe they DO,because I can't help but think Maddie would know better than to suddenly run off like that.

Posted: 4/8/12 at 1:11pmI know they feed lines to the kids. A man can be heard feeding Vivi lines season 1. You know Mackenzie's little funnies are scripted, too. Who knows?

I think some of their cute lines are fed, which a lot of lines for reality shows are fed. For instance, "Big Brother" gets busted all the time. The other night on "Celebrity Apprentice" Clay Aiken said something about Aubrey O'Day, laughed and then said, "Can you use that"?
Maddie (sp?) running off I HIGHLY doubt was staged. I just don't.

" Clay Aiken said something about Aubrey O'Day, laughed and then said, "Can you use that"?"
that sounds more to me like Clay coming out with that on his own and wondering if they would leave it in. If it were scripted, of course they could use it! I love Clay!

A few of my music students were at the Paramus competition in the last episode. Maddie choked. Unless she was giving the greatest child performance since Patty Duke in The Miracle Worker, she really did have a meltdown backstage.
The other people at the contest were also really fed up with the production being there. Apparently, there was a lot of tension because--surprise--Abby and Kathy's teams did not shut up backstage. They slowed down a huge contest because of TV production issues and had the order shuffled around just to appease the TV show. Both teams did poorly because their routines did not fit into the popular style of the area. Chloe won because she played right into what does well here: big broad character pieces.

Posted: 4/11/12 at 3:11pmDid anyone start watching the Miami show? Can't decide what I think of Victor and Angel so far. But, it's good to see them actually working with the kids instead of just sitting there. I so far like Kimmy and her mom. Jessie's mom is crazy, and unfortunately, it rubs off on her. I did think it was interesting when she was put at the bottom of the list after the 1st competition for her poor sportsmanship though. And will Lucas ever wear anything other than a tight pair of shorts in competition?

Posted: 4/11/12 at 4:42pmThat Lucas is already a diva.

Anyone watching? I'm really loving all the hypocritical and heinous behavior Abby will try and squirm out of. Once she blatantly admitted favoritism, her credibility plummeted. And her reactions to the Spoon Dance were priceless. Saying how awesome she thought the performance was before judging and then screaming at the girls for doing a crappy job when they placed second. The woman is a clown.
And Melissa is straight-up crazy. Every time she smiles, I feel the need to pop a Xanax. Hopefully, Kathy is being axed from the show since she's nothing more than an opportunist. She does nothing but plot and scheme and it's just so transparent.

Posted: 6/27/12 at 5:12pmI have been watching! Maddie is DEFINITELY being favored over the other girls. This season has been extremely entertaining so far. I also noticed her quick 180 about the silver spoon dance. The woman is psycho, and her reactions to getting second place are always priceless!

I'm still watching. Of course we saw Maddie being favored since the first episode, but don't count out Chloe. she dances as well as Maddie, has the correct body, etc. she just lacks the personality which lightens up the stage that Maddie has.
I'm still a diehard Abby fan/sort of. lots of creative people are wackos, thanks god, and whatever you say about her, her kids come up with the goods.

Apparently, Abby doesn't think her kids come up with the goods most of the time. She'll say some positive things unless the judges don't give first place, then she flips the script completely and treats them like garbage. These girls are going to grow up with all kinds of anxiety issues.

Gotta disagree. I think the kids basically like Abby and will not grow up with any of those issues. If I am to believe what I see, hasn't one of the moms been with Abby for several years, starting as a student, and now has her kid in the class? The loyalty to Abby tells me she's doing more than one thing right.
The show is so edited it's ridiculous.

Yeah, that's the mother who threatened to leave after Abby threw the chair and scared the crap out of her daughter. And if the mother wasn't tied to a contract for a set number of episodes, I doubt she would have returned. Her daughter was the one crying that she wanted to leave, so I don't think she really loved Abby so much. They didn't seem too thrilled about being forced to switch into costumes that didn't fit. And how many times have the girls been terrified that Abby will yell at them for a mistake, no matter how small?
Melissa is the only one who truly seems to show any sense of loyalty to Abby as long as Maddie is kept on a pedestal. Sometimes the girls do shine in their routines, but they are being taught with bully and fear tactics. That takes a huge toll on kids, especially when exposed for long periods of time. I'm more than familiar with that particular technique. Sure, a kid may become the "best", but when driven by fear and negative reinforcement, it often results in a short-lived victory once they are removed from the environment, as most of these girls eventually will unless they are seeking a career at the Abby Lee Miller Correctional Facility.

Yeah, I'm with you Mr. Matt about Melissa. She has a weird glazed over look. Her smile ends at her mouth and there's nothing behind the eyes.
I think Chloe is adorable.

Posted: 6/27/12 at 6:48pmEveryone here does realize that the show is scripted? Brooke goes to my school and she told me everything was staged..
#91Doesn't anyone here watch DANCE MOMS
Posted: 6/27/12 at 10:02pmOf course it is, as are all the other "reality" shows. But people believe it's real so they talk about it at the water cooler, lol.
#92Doesn't anyone here watch DANCE MOMS
Posted: 6/27/12 at 10:06pmMatt, it's just a show. Scripted, fake, so all points are moot.

I know it's been so long since this was discussed, but is anyone still watching?
This season so far is kind of dumb, but of course I'll watch it anyway. I think the Sophia stuff was added for drama because otherwise it would be everyone else against Maddie and Melissa as usual.

I'm watching, though it's all just fiction now. The only thing I like about it is watching Abby make herself look more idiotic and tyrannical each season. Cathy might still be more of a C, but Abby is working pretty hard to keep up with her.
And of course she can replace the girls in a moments' notice! It has nothing to do with the reputation of her studio. What little girl and her mom would turn down an opportunity to appear on TV?
#96Doesn't anyone here watch DANCE MOMS
Posted: 1/30/13 at 4:15pmYeah, the show has totally gotten away from whatever reality it once had, which wasn't much to begin with. I'm sort of surprised there wasn't more drama with the replacement girls last night. Like that thing with the ages. What a waste to mention.

Posted: 1/30/13 at 5:07pmAnd now there's Cheer Perfection. Awesome coach who is the polar opposite of Abby. But that show is really about the moms and there are some real doozies.
#98Doesn't anyone here watch DANCE MOMS
Posted: 1/30/13 at 5:10pmThe coach on Cheer Nation sucks though. She sits there playing on her iPad during practice, and meanwhile the girls are doing basket tosses right at the very edge of the mat. The one girl came down hard on the gym floor one time and she wasn't even watching.
#99Doesn't anyone here watch DANCE MOMS
Posted: 1/30/13 at 5:22pmI haven't seen Cheerleader Nation, but what was that show about cheerleaders in Jersey? Now THAT was a really good series. It totally focused on the coach and the girls without all the mama drama. It was surprisingly inspiring.
