I'm surprised that no one here watches or comments on this hideous pseudo reality TV show. It's just loaded with people that you'd never want to be your friends, plus an overweight dance teacher whose teaching technique involves nothing more than screeching at her students and yelling "POINT YOUR FOOT!!"

Really?? No one watches this?

I think there was another thread because I know a few of us watch and have commented on the show. Abby Lee Miller is such a gross hypocritical buffoon, but Cathy is a flat-out opportunistic attention-whore psycho. The moms bitch and complain and moan, but have about as much initiative as Chekhov's Three Sisters.

I watch the show ....& hate all the adults .... but all those kids are so talented and all they want to do is please that ass---- Miss Abbey .....

I agree...all the moms are pretty hideous. Although I give Holly, points for not being a screamer! And she doesn't seem to be living vicariously through her child, like the rest of them do.

Maddie scares me! She's like a 40 year old 8 year old. And she needs to get into braces before that overbite gets worse.

Maddie is a good dancer, but she just annoys me. Her solo choreography is the most cliched crap out there. And why does EVERY SOLO have to end with sitting on the floor? Chloe's raven solo was the best work that's been performed since the beginning of the show. I really like Holly and Nia and Holly is often the voice of reason, but she has no backbone whatsoever. All the moms let Abby walk all over them, bully the girls, emotionally manipulate everyone, humiliate everyone, and they are literally PAYING her to do so.

I agree...that Maddie is probably the best dancer of the group...but like you I wish every solo wouldn't end with her on the floor...and that the solo's might consist of something more than run....run...run.. prep pirouette...turns in second, or fouette turns to the right, pulling into a triple pirouette. I'm beginning to think that none of them can do anything to the left.

I'd love to see the pas de quatre from Swan Lake or something similar where they actually have to dance as one and it's all about technique. And not a single pirouette!

I'd also like to see a bit more of the groups they are competing against, instead of a 15 second snippet. Just to get an idea of what the competition is really like.

Definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. I haven't seen season 1, but I'm enjoying season 2. She's crazy, but Cathy/Candy Apple is part of what makes the show so entertaining.

I've seen all the episodes! I like Abby, she knows what she's doing, and I love the kids. Especially Maddie. What a well adjusted kind, sweet and enormously talented little girl.

I got sick and watched it all in a five day marathon. I like it, but it's WAY too scripted for me. Cathy never wanted Vivi to dance at Abby Lee. They just needed to introduce a nemesis. In season one, when Vivi has her first solo (and ends up doing one her mom choreographed) she's sitting on the bed telling her mom she's afraid she'll forget the dance. You can hear a man feeding her lines off camera. And come on, Vivi is awful.

Season 2, Jill was introduced as the ass kissing villain. I don't believe for a second that Abby would accept all those bribes and not call her out on them. Then on the episode that aired two weeks ago, I think, Kendall was at the bottom of the pyramid and put back on probation. Kendall was devastated. Her mom took her and stormed out. THEN Nia was at the top of the pyramid, for "working hard this week." BULL. Some of the girls have won first place and not gotten to the top. She would never put Nia up there for no reason. Then Kendall's mom drives 2 hours to Candy Apples? There are no dance studios in Pittsburg? THEN there was obviously fake scene where Kendall's mom called Cathy. Then they took her in, brought out the sparkling cider and candy apples for all the moms. Bologna. Then, she suddenly realized that Nia was at the top of the pyramid and thereby would be the only girl doing a solo from Abby Lee. Okay, since when? Top of the pyramid usually gets a solo, but since when did Abby bench both Maddie and Chloe? No, it had to be Nia and no one else, because that's the only person Kendall could beat. And she competed using Abby's costume and choreography.

Holly said something about her daughter being set up and she was right. Nia felt horrible for not winning. Kendall bawled her eyes out when she was put on probation. I have a real problem with them setting these little girls up and breaking their hearts to feed the storyline. They are too young to really get it.

Bah. I think too much about this crap. I love watching the little girls dance, though. I also like the snarky moms. lol I also love when Abby has a moment of humanity.

Of course the whole thing is scripted. Without silly drama, there's no show. All "reality" shows are unreal, lol.

I also love watching the girls dance, JG2. They selected a talented group of nice children for the show!

The whole pyramid thing is disgusting. It's nothing more than a form public humiliation, for a bunch of children who are doing nothing more than trying to please their mothers and an overbearing dance instructor (if you can call someone who just barks out corrections an instructor) who thinks humiliation is a way to motivate someone.

I don't watch consistently, but I have watched enough. Most of these women seem crazy. I agree that it probably is very scripted because it's horrible watching these grown women having fights in front of the kids.

I forget, was there an episode where Abby was getting mad at that 1 girl because she almost fell on her head? It was either Chloe or Maddie. I forget.

The show being scripted and directed notwithstanding, the kids are happy in Abby's class, are not the ones who want to be pulled out, and want to return if and when they do leave.

I don't know if it's part of the script, but Abby's kids do win most of the competitions, and her kids are great sports when they don't win.

She's doing something right.

Guilty pleasure, but this is the most scripted, fake reality show out there, and that's saying something.

Cathy and Abby went on Rosie and pretty much admitted they were best friends, and Cathy gave Abby back the bumblebee costume. The results are always skewed to make it look like the girls won, when she didn't -- people have checked actual results. Most competitions aren't letting them film anymore, so I think the last couple ones have been fake. Or the fact that no other youngsters are competing/putting so many hours in is what allows them to win as well.

Of course I love all the kids, love how supportive they are of each other, and love to watch them dance. But I think I'm alone in this -- I don't really mind the moms that much, minus Melissa. Maybe because I know all the screaming is staged, but I came over to this from Toddlers and Tiaras and notice that whenever the girls forget or do poorly, Holly, Christie, and Kelly all come over and hug them and tell them they're wonderful, etc. That does NOT happen on T&T--they get yelled at, forced to drink mountain dew, etc. Maybe thanks to T&T my standards are really low.

Anyway, no clue why I watch it when it's so fake, but if I have nothing better to do on a Tuesday night...

I watched that Rosie show, and I dont think they admitted to being best friends. They bickered in a jokey way, but it seemed clear to me they hated each other.

Of course, there wouldnt be a show without the both of them.

And yes, Abby needs to get laid by someone or something...PRONTO!

I would actually love to see Abby teach a technique class...and not simply yell during the rehearsal for a competition routine. You don't strengthen your technique by constantly rehearsing routines. You strengthen it by taking class. I want to see HER demonstrate proper technique...not just scream about it. You can't tell me she doesn't have a half dozen teachers who actually do the teaching of these kids. They are the ones who should be getting the credit for whatever technique they actually do have.

I think Abby is pretty honest about not doing the actual routines. She said she doesn't dance her own choreography, much less what Cathy choreographed. She also commonly refers to the other teachers and their classes. She has actual dancers working with the girls. She said she was always better at choreographing than dancing, so she started her own company at 14.

The only time I got honestly pissed was during her racial weirdness about Nia and then when she said that Asmeret didn't get a four year Martin Luther Kind scholarship because she was white. She's dropped Asmeret's name a few times on the show. Is that her only star pupil that went on to big things?

I'd be willing to bet Abby hasn't choreographed a single routine for any of those kids. I want to see HER in action. She seems to be all talk...and not much else.

It's one of those things where you love to hate them. Cathy and Abby are both disgusting. But I do love the girls.
