Ed doesn't need to watch GLEE to see how Jane acts, she is the SAME character in 95% of the work she's done.
She acts the same as she does playing SUE when she's playing a shrink on 2 1/2 Men.
The woman has very little range and I am sick of her playing the same old character. She should NOT have won.
I don't care who deserved to win the award, it's classless and unprofessional for O'Neil to bash Jane Lynch's win in public.

Kanye started it.
"The woman has very little range and I am sick of her playing the same old character."
Anyone who has followed her career from The Fugitive through the Guest movies and Julie and Julia to her current gig knows that this is hooey.
Who gives a rats ass what Ed O'Neil thinks. His career high was Married With Children -- not exactly Shakespeare.

You mean like
Ethel Merman
Patti Lupone
Kristin Chenoweth
Idina Menzel
Etc. ?

Now he's saying that the quote was not from him:

Here is his actual quote:
'I'm one of Jane Lynch's biggest fans. I love Jane Lynch. She is a genius. But at the same time I said 'Sofia could win' because ... and I've only seen Glee a couple of ... I've only seen Glee once. But I thought Jane's role is rather one-dimensional. It's kind of strident. It's always kind of the same. I've seen her be much better. So I thought 'Sofia's funnier,' and I think she is in these two comparative roles. Anyway, Jane won. But I was hoping that Sofia would.'
It still would have been better if he'd left Jane out completely, but I'm glad he was misquoted.
Im sorry but to me Gloria is a far more one dimensianal role than Sue. As much as i think she is very funny in the role she does the same thing each week (shout, story about her birth land etc)

He's making a criticism of a character from seeing only one episode? And probably in any given episode Jane Lynch has about 10 minutes of screen time.
