I'm kind of curious about this dog. What's its name? What does it look like? I'm sure I could dig the information up, but I prefer just imagining.
Maybe this is her. I bet she's named Jessie.

What if it were a pitbull that had been raised to fight?
Or a Greyhound who'd been on race dog?
Why wouldn't she have just gone to the pound?

Posted: 10/17/07 at 1:13amoh yeah..I'll "chill" as soon as these "rescue" groups are held to the same standards as the city and county agencies where they do business.

Yeah, I agree with Coop! Ellen was dumb to have joined up with these yahoos. She had no free will. No choices to make.
And this is Rigby. Couldn't you just die?

I thought the people in the Xanadu (fanadu) and Legally Blonde threads made for interesting and disturbing reading.
There's been so much mixing apples and oranges in this thread you could make a freaking fruit salad.
I think emotional manipulation is such a sad negative trait.
And I don't understand how people don't understand the concept of a contract.

these contracts drawn up by "rescue" groups aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Any judge would declare them unenforceable.

the law that states that animals are property and nothing more as far as legal standing.
But hopefully that will change so I can claim mine as dependents on my tax return..why should the breeders and their demon spawn get all the breaks?

"these contracts drawn up by "rescue" groups aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Any judge would declare them unenforceable." Based on what? You throw out these opinions in a post as if they're a statement of fact.
What's legally unenforceable about their contracts? You agree to a contract or you don't sign it. How difficult is that to understand? Seriously? Seriously? It's one or the other. You agree or you don't sign. If you don't like the conditions of a contract you simply don't enter into it. Where is there something to challenge? Did the rescue agency in some way violate the contract, or were they seeing it enforced?

"Where is there something to challenge?"
if animals are legally viewed as property, once you take possession of them they are YOUR property. The only legal recourse to remove them is due to suspected abuse or neglect.
That is how they are unenforceable. Once you relinquish the property you have no more claim to that property. Period.
