Ugh. Sue you are utterly bereft of any good taste. Go find a Fantastic Four chat room and drop your political baiting there. This is an event that has personally affected many people on this board and we come here for informed conversation and companionship. **** the **** off.
The Heroes who Responded to the Blasts
At this point, I would stop following the NY Post.
I should have stopped following the New York Post when Dorothy Schiff sold it to Rupert Murdoch.
Unfortunately, bad habits are tough to break.
beadle read the thread. i asked a simple legit question that others have as well and was attacked for it. therefore i defended my position. by making it more then that and being vulgar YOU are politicizing it.
listening to his speech. YAY!! he just used the T word!!! thank you Mr President
Yes, sue. You got your yum-yums. Now get lost.

Boston Marathon Help: Relief Groups Aid Victims (How To Help)
OK...Obama used the word terrorist. How has that changed ANYTHING????
it shows hes not **** footing around. it shows the USA is taking this as seriously as possible, it shows the USA will not stop in finding and punishing the people/organizations/countries that are responisble. it shows the patriot act will be used.
#26Acts2: Acts of kindness in the wake of the Boston Marathon tragedy
He called it an "act of terror" and said, "This was a heinous and cowardly act, and given what we now know about what took place, the FBI is investigating it as an act of terrorism."
The operative words are "what we now know took place."

We all see what Sue is making happen here, despite the fact that she would like to isolate it into me being "condescending to anyone who disagrees with me."
I guess the hard right in this country owns the word "terrorism" or something. Perhaps they have copyrighted it and Halliburton gets royalties whenever the word is used?
I would suggest that Sue's petty concerns and baiting posts be left behind.
A picture of the 8 year old victim Martin Richard has surfaced and he's holding a home made painting that says "No More Hurting People" with a peace sign and two hearts with smiley faces in them.
Yeah Namo, I regret even validating the question.
I have no doubt that the Obama Administration will thoughtfully and deliberately get to the bottom of who is responsible - focusing on a word, rather than the conduct and effort, is the simplest form of dog whistle out there.

And mark my words, there will be more faux outrages from the same source.
we all know appearances make a big diff on the national stage. so now hes said it, and Im happy. when you can declare an act of terrorism, you legally can use the Patriot Act tactics. he said it and now he can, bravo for the prez

Let us let things not deserving of a response whither and die where they sit.
Oh, and before he said it, they were all having a good laugh about what happened. I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

Which is exactly what I am attempting to do. Instead of engaging I am choosing to try to shine the light elsewhere.

Remember the 26 random acts of kindness thing that happened after Newtown?
A lot of people are doing it again today. I really sucked at it the first time. I obsessively searched for random things to do, which undermined the whole point of "random".
I'm going to try again today.
ETA This is how dazed I am, Eris. I read about it by following your link but forgot about where I 'heard" about this by the time I wrote my post. They say the memory is the first to go.
Well, as long as its happy, I guess that's all that matters...
I saw an interview with a witness saying there were bomb sniffing dogs searching before the race, telling people not to worry, they were 'only doing training'. There were suggestions that the authorities had heard of probable attack, yet didn't warn the public.
And today I see no mention of it anywhere.

Post-9/11 they have always had that procedure. The official word is that there had been no chatter, which would be consistent with the "lone wolf" theory, but then again the official word is often not the whole story.

I can certainly appreciate your state of mind, Namo. You're closer to the situation.
Stronger After Boston
ALL sources have always said there were no known hints/threats of anything happening. Why would they talk about a non-entity?
I'm sure having the dogs before the race is basic protocol. I hate when we take ONE person's comments as gospel. (Did we learn nothing from all the misinformation from Sandy Hook?)
How I wish there was a block function on this site.
There were two bomb sweeps before the race. I think these days that is standard operating procedure. But, in an open race that is not in an enclosed environment, it is impossible to check everyone. I would imagine they will get a timeline of who got near the trash can post second sweep to help identify a suspect.
I'm posting the link from my iPad, so I hope it works for everyone. (But Sue)
Here's the interview

I love that piece, Eris.
ETA Bless that University of Mobile's guy's heart. Honestly, Boston really does do training exercises. Big ones. That's one of the reasons credited for the swift response and relatively little confusion when the bombs went off.
