Boston’s Businesses Offer Support After Tragedy
I love all these examples of the outpouring of support and aid.
And, as Patton Oswalt said, that's what people do. We help those who are in immediate need.
The few despicable cowards who carry out these abominations will never dim the human spirit that swells within the vast majority of human beings when tragedy occurs.
I came across this article while looking for a place to donate where the money would actually go towards the victims medical bills, rehab, prosthetics, funerals, etc.
Boston Marathon charity scams cropping up, Better Business Bureau warns
This is terrible. They ID'd the second victim, and she was originally misidentified. Her parents thought she was alive.

Yes it is horrible but there is a family out there who thought they had lost someone but were given her back.
Oh Lord, what a nightmare, i remember a similiar case like that a couple of years back with a couple of teenage girls... one was in a coma, the other was dead and they got them mixed up. when the family came to the hospital, they saw it wasnt their daughter in the coma, but theirs was dead
St. Ann's is the church that the Richard Family belongs to. Perhaps they have set up something for the family regarding medical bills/funeral expenses.
Mille, I saw the update about the second victim. Not much information is available about her yet.
St Ann's
Taz, the story you posted absolutely ripped my heart into shreds when I read it earlier today.
The cruelty is unbearable.
I had to turn the news off. It's turning into grief porn on every network. The montage of pictures from yesterday set to "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" was enough for me.

It's particularly difficult in Boston. You sort of compulsively stay tuned because every so often there actually is new information, but then there's a whole lot of painful repetition of images and gibberish from the newscasters who have simply run out of things to say. I feel fairly comfortable stating that camera crews and reporters don't really *need* to set up camp outside of the dead people's homes to tell us how somber the mood is.
On the other hand, I am impressed by the measured responses of the politicians who have been interviewed on camera.

I can understand that. The only comparable thing I have is the kidnapping/murder of Megan Kanka 19 years ago. While it was not even close to the same level as what happened yesterday the feelings are somewhat the same. I get the "need" to stay as informed as possible.

It's probably unhealthy the way TV can give you this sense of "sitting vigil." I finally had to get out of the house and overcome the depression the event has inspired.

That's good. Getting out of the house and being "productive" can always be helpful. Is there any way local residents can help out? Answering phones somewhere or something to fill the need to "pitch in"?
Worse comes to worse you could always watch last night's season finale of Dallas
Good Lordy,
The news in the airport is a constant stream of video loops of the explosions. How many times are they going to show it?!
Messages of Hope After Marathon Bombing
I take the humanity that arises from the terror as one small blessing.

Here's what I was hoping for. A link for a place to donate directly to victims.
