Blake! He's cute and he beatboxes. What's not to like?
For the girls I like Melinda and Lakisha. But Blake is really the only contestant that stands out and seems different from what we've seen on the show before. I think his record would sell, which is really what this show is about, creating a pop star.

But that's the problem with this show. Only people who can and do sing a certain way are thought deserving to win. And that's why most of the talented pop artists today would possibly never win this competition if it's how they had started out.

I agree that Melinda is the best contestant American Idol has ever had. She should win, IMO.

MadBrian, you're exactly right about the internet polls AKA DialIdol . com They show my least faves Sundance, Sanjaya, and Antonella high up in the votes. It's ridiculous! I'm afraid, actually being a viewer for six seasons now, I KNOW that these 3 will take the spots of 3 more deserving contestants. Vote for talent people! Oh and someone mentioned how they liked Chris Sligh in the beginning, but now can't stand him. I AGREE COMPLETELY! It all started with that rude comment to Simon about Il Divo. He's arrogant.

There is no such thing as a deserving contestant. People vote for who they like. The most votes wins. The people love Sanjaya!

Taylor Hicks was able to ride the wave of exposure from the AI producers from the early rounds all the way to the title, beating much better singers. The producers did the same this year, and now we have Sanjaya and Sundance. Hopefully, talent will win out this year.

Talent hasn't won out too often in American Idol history (in my opinion)

I think the only one that deserved to win the A.I. crown was Kelly Clarkson and *maybe* Carrie Underwood (even though I hate her songs). Rubin, Fantasia, and Taylor should not have won their competition.

And I vote for Melinda this year.

"much better singers"? Better in what sense? All that matters is popularity. Taylor Hicks was the most popular and he won.

My favorites this year are Blake, Chris R., Melinda, and Lakisha. Yes, I think that Blake and Chris are hot, and that they sing more current songs and have a unique sense of style... not to mention that Blake looks a lot like my BF, although my BF's sense of style isn't as cool as Blake's. Melinda is overall the best singer. She doesn't need to shout or belt just to show what she can do. She also has a little bit more personality than Lakisha.

spiderdj82, you're right about the two most deserving winners, Kelly and Carrie. Unlike you though, I def. consider Carrie a great, valid winner. I like her more than Kelly. They were the only winners that should have won.

unfortunately it is still around, but i don't think it has a very big affect...i mean how can anyone hate Idol that much?? haha
