Well I know I was one that was kinda negative about her petitioning on to the team, BUT I'm glad that she is doing well and it's official about her spot on the team.
Still from what the report said, realistically speaking for her to win the gold the program has got to be better than that. But I have a feeling that she will improve, but the question is will it be enough?
It's nice to know what her LP will be to(a Rachmoninoff Piece).
Also, just to let every one know I ordered a tape from Amazon.com Market place and it came in yesterday. It's the 1988 Winter Olympic Highlights and it was a NEW tape, still in the shrink wrap. What a find for only like $23.00.
Anyways, Now I have seen the complete LP's of Brian Boitano and Brian Orser. G and G(Pair's Gold medalist )!, Jill Watson and Peter Oppegard(pairs bronze medalist who have a neat style of jumping where they rotate in different directions!). B and B(Dance Gold Medalist) The Duchany's of France. Katarine Witt, Debi Thomas and Elizabeth Manley! What a treat since I never seen a COMPLETE LP from any of those games.
It's also had really good segments(though not complete programs) of the Brian's SP and Katarina and Debi's SP. It also had a NEAR complete Free Dance of the Ice Dance Commentator Susie Winn and her partner(though she had a different last name then). It said that they actually had a tough time after Susie fell in the compulsories but came through to finish 6th, which is WAY higher than I would have figured an American Team would have placed as the highest place in 1992 Olympics was like 11th! Anyways, it made my day!!!!!!
I would have like to have seen some of Jill Trenary and ice dancing bronze medalist Tracy Wilson and Rob McCall, but I'm just glad they showed as much as they did since this was a highlights tape of the whole game(not just figure skating).
Ice is slippery though. I mean, who expected Sara to win in SLC? Michelle mentioned she needed to work on a lot of elements in the coming weeks in her press conference, but she seems to be in the right mindset.
That's true and if she has improved from when she withdrew from Nationals then she is making progress and perhaps will peak at the right time.
As for Sarah, She ALWAYS had the goods.
Anyone watching the European Championships on cable? Stephane Lambiel is such a beautiful spinner. Yvgeny Plushenko (sp?) leaves me cold. I've never liked him.
Oh darn, I missed Yvgeny? I was too busy watching the SAG awards. I hate to miss my Plushy
Hi Jane2! I didn't realize the SAG awards were on tonight. No wonder DH was a repeat. The women's competition is coming up.
Yay! but how did Plush do, if I may ask?
He won. He actually did very well, but there's something about his style that doesn't move me. Stephane Lambiel on the other hand is so elegant and has beautiful line to his skating.
Well, I really go for the powerful, no-nonsense style of skating. Like Denise Beillmann, she wasn't exactly a favorite of many, but she was mine.
Oh, that tape sounds awesome. I don't think I've ever seen G&G's long program all the way through. I probably watched it on the Olympics when it actually aired but I don't really remember.
I am happy that it sounds like Michelle is ready to go. Maybe it will take some pressure off since she's not the favorite this time. I guess I'm actually just hoping for lots of good skating. There are a lot of "Go Kimmie" signs around my town because she lives in Maryland, so I'd like to see her do well too.
hooray for michelle! and i don't care if she medals or not, as long as she skates her best.
plushy was great for HIM, but i still don't care of his style. too much posing, arm flailing, splayed fingers, in-your-face positions, and so-so spinning. and that revved up godfather music is hideous. at least he's cut his hair! (some)
jane, you must be a fan of brian joubert, no? what does everyone think of his LONGER hair? i rather liked it (he'd be cute with any kind of hair), but he had on too much rouge!
not particularly, turtle, why do you say that? Oh, because of the power skating thing that I like?
yes, that's the reason, jane do you like evan lysacek?
MTVMANN, the Europeans were on cable last night. The ladies weren't shown until about 11:30, but I just couldn't keep my eyes open, so I went to bed. I wanted to see just how good Irina's program was.
I really hope Michelle goes in there and surprises the heck out of everyone.
Yes, I do like Evan . Now, Johnny Weir doesn't fit into my power thing, but he's my second favorite male skater, I guess because of how graceful he is. He also has a certain attitude that I like.
Dottie-I saw Irina and she was great! But did you see her short program before that? that was the best performance i ever saw from her.
Hi all! 1 week away!
I just wanted to let it be known that after watching Ice Diaries, I think that Bebe Liang's coach (who often coaches whoever Frank Carole coaches), Ken Congemi IS SO HOT! Don't you guys agree:) ?
MTVMANN, I was switching channels and came across Skating Diaries and I'm now watching it as well!!
is ken the one we saw at nationals with frank carroll? i kept wondering if they were lovers ...
Yeah, Ken was most likely around Frank at some point during Nationals. Frank and Ken both coach some of same skaters, to include Bebe Liang.
Lovers?
Hmmmm, while I assume both are gay, Although everything I read about Frank Carroll he is described as a Confirmed Bachelor(ala Henry Higgins), and friends, but I doubt Lovers. Although, I like Frank Carroll and he seems like such a nice man......I really don't want to think of him and Ken as lovers.
awwwww ... i think it's SWEET to think of them as lovers. every cute young guy needs an older man ...
Yeah, but I want Ken to be my older man, so Frank is in the way :)
j/k, Although it is a really nice thought :)
The two coach Evan Lysacek right? So we will be seeing them at the Olympics :), as we see if Frank can coach a skater to his 4th Olympic medal.

A Question for all you die hard figure skating fans!
"Do any of you have Olympic Competitions or World Championship Competitions or National Championships on Tape"
I have everything from 2001 on, when I started recording. And then I have highlight videos from 1998, 1994, 1992 and 1988 Olympics.
But there is a lot missing, I'd to see all the stuff that isn't included on the Highlight tapes. Anyways, perhaps we could trade or something, I've got stuff too. Anyways would love to get a copy of those.
If you don't have a copy, do you know of another website or person that does?
What about a good figure skating website that has videos available to download? The website I used to visit for that closed down.
mtvmann, you need to join the usfsa discussion board ...
http://board.usfigureskating.org/
look for VIDEO REQUESTS at the bottom. i'm sure you will also enjoy the discussions there. but i was miffed when i was bumped for calling sarah hughes "sarah huge."
