Katrina does not have the technical difficulty.
it drives me crazy that there are so many empty seats at these events. all i can figure is they're charging way too much for tickets.
Since I'm sick and indoors all day, I just came upon a skating/gymnastics program on NBC-lo and behold-my fav Plushy! I hadn't seen him skate since he was still competing. He looks good, healthy, put on a little weight, and did a nice exhibition program.
And now Yuka Sato-I love this program!
wish i'd known it was on. thanks, to you, jane, i at least caught the last 5 min :) looks like a show that would have been great to have seen LIVE. plushy did look "better" ... but i see he's still arm-flailing and posing :/
It was quite an extravaganza, turtle, incorporating gymnastics with the skating and some gorgeous piano playing! All the athletes were the tops in their fields. I'd like to see that show again-I had no idea it was on either, and only got to see the end also.
it's supposed to REPEAT on STYLE next SUNDAY at 10 AM :)

Show some love for Philippe Candeloro. Anyone else remember this?:

Excellent! I recommend it. Another blast from the past was Surya Bonaly.

Ah...I remember all of her crazy backflips! Surya was a great athlete and technical skater. Candeloro was a great artistic skater. I miss '90s skating, Jane!
I'm going waaaay back-I miss Denise Beillman (for her speed and power), Angela Nikodinov (beautiful and graceful but NEVER smiled), Oksana Baiul (a show in herself) and even poor Nicole Bobek (one day she's falling all over the place and crying, next day she's perfect!).
We don't get any more fun in skating these days!
i never liked SURYA ... but to put her in a show with GYMNASTS is sheer brilliance
I didn't like Surya at all. It wasn't only her and her mother's rebellious attitude towards the sport, I didn't like her style.
I did like Candeloria's style and personality, but he always looked so dirty! eww. Okay, fine, so it's cool to have oil dripping out of your hair, but his white shirts were never really white and he looked like he never bathed. I still thought there was something hot about him though. White was not one of the colors on his teeth either.

Jane, Oksana was my favorite! I was so happy when she edged out the toothy ice queen for the Olympic gold.

Thanks for posting that, blue! I meant to go to that site to see some other skaters too.
I never thought Oksana and the gila monster were in the same league.

youtube is addictive! Here's another treat...Torvill and Dean skating to Bolero:

My lord, I almost took a heart attack watching that again. That has to be one of the most breathtaking programs ever skated in history. I know it is! There is no other pairs dance couple who move as one, the way they did. And the way the intensity of the skating increased with the music. PErFECTION! I really must get that on dvd.

They WERE perfection!
I'll always have a soft spot for Grinkov and Gordeeva, though. He was so young and beautiful...what a tragedy.
Oh yeah-my cousin delivered their baby!
I just watched a video which reviewed that whole Pasha/Sacha scandal. Sasha Zhulin, in his prime, was my idea of the most beautiful man on earth!

Hee. I usually don't like blondes but I thought he was really cute!
I didn't like his skating style. he was very fond of making lots of sexy movements but for some reason I always laughed!
my man and i just watched my OLYMPIC WICKED GAMES vid ... clips from the TORINO games set to WICKED music. hadn't seen it in ages. brought back so many memories. that was nearly two years ago!
Hey, we were going back to 1984 with Torvill and Dean!
