“Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore”

I didn't realize TINKER BELL AND THE GREAT FAIRY RESCUE was a theatrical release.

I still think TOY STORY 3 can win Best Picture along with Best Animated Picture.

Re: the Tinkerbell movie -
Studios have been known to do limited theatrical releases of animated films that were likely to be straight-to-video, in order to increase the number of total animated films released for the year, thereby increasing the number of Oscar slots from 3 to 5.
It didn't work this year.

Toy Story 3 is a lock to win the award. The rest is all a formality.

Alpha and Omega was cute. But not worthy of an Oscar nom. I'm taking my son to see Megamind Friday. I think.

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually preferred How to Train Your Dragon to Toy Story 3. But that's because I never really connected with any of the Toy Story films.

They should just rename the damn thing the Pizar Award -- or get rid of it altogether since the Best Picture category now has 10 slots. That way lesser animated films won't get nominated and the worthier animated films can still have a shot at the top prize.

Most of the major contenders were produced in 3-D to boot.
Unless an obscure foreign title sneaks in, I think the third slot with be Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.

The winner will be Toy Story 3 that is partly rewarding the best in the field and partly honoring the movie franchise since the category was not in existence when the first two films were out.
I have no problem with re-adjusting the number of nominees in the category. Do we want another year of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius or Treasure Planet up for it? I actually wish they did this with Best Picture category than the commercially-charged 10 nominee ploy.

I was actually thrilled when "Jimmy Neutron" was nominated. I had more fun at that movie than I think my kids did.

I thought the TV show made afterward was cute but the movie overall was meh.

They should just rename the damn thing the Pixar Award
Or, the other studios should begin producing work that's of as high a quality as what Pixar repeatedly and continually creates.

Well based on the trailer for Pixar's Summer 2011 opus "Cars 2" I would say the Oscar for best animated Pixar film will not be going to Pixar next year.

My son was obsessed with Lightning McQueen when that movie came out. He's not so into it anymore - it's too babyish for him...LOL

Oh yeah, what an actress! She was so good in GONE WITH THE WIND. I wanted to be Miss Olivia de Havilland myself.

Don't get me wrong, I like Pixar tremendously.
Wall-E and Up were both incredible films.
Cars on the other hand was boring. Pretty to look at, but a weak movie overall. Why they are doing a sequel to this and not The Incredibles is a mystery to me.

Isn't CARS one of Disneys biggest merchandise sellers in years? I'd imagine that might have something to do with it.

Kids love love love Cars. I thought it was fun, but I apparently the merchandise sales are crazy.

Well that makes a lot of sense, I didn't realize how popular the toys are.
I always wanted to see a Monsters Inc. sequel.

Taz - in California Adventure (Disney's auxillary park here in SoCal,) CARS is huge - they're constructing CarsLand even as I type.

Wow, I had no idea that it was so popular. Everything I read said the movie's appeal was too limited to boys and while it was a hit it wasn't the MASSIVE hit that Pixar usually has.
I just didn't find it all that interesting. Maybe the whole James Bond thing will liven up the characters.

I actually hope that Monsters, Inc does not get a sequel. The ending worked so perfectly for me that I don't want to spoil it with any idea of "what happens next."
