Well they did an interview with Rowling on the Today show this morning and doing another tomorrow. Dateline on Sunday will be an entire hour devoted to Harry Potter. Wonder if they may address it then? A lot of people I have talked to have been talking about it.
I never saw the interview with Rowling today on the Today Show. Was it really early?
What time is the Dateline Harry Potter showing? I'd like to record that, and see what they say.
This morning's was with a bunch of kids who had questions. No real major information. She briefly answered their questions. Said she couldn't kill Mr. Weasley and that she would continue writing but not about the wizarding world. As far as Dateline, check NBC's website. I am in Denver and I think it comes on at 7:00pm here. So that would be 9:00 EST. As far as tomorrow on the Today Show, if they did like they did today, the interview should be in the secon 1/2 hour (Between 7:30 & 8:00. This morning it was on right after the local news update). Tomorrow morning it is one on one with Meredith.
My favorite is one of the kids asking whether she always intended Snape to be a hero, and she goes (paraphrased), "Well, he's not really a hero, is he? He's still spiteful and a bully, even at the end of the books." And then when another kid asked if he would still have protected Harry if he wasn't Lily's son, she immediately goes (again, paraphrased), "No, absolutely not. He would have no interest in what happened to Harry."

I was just about to post something about particular question, Taryn. Her answer is fascinating.
Wow. That looks interesting.
I'll definitely have to look up the time for Dateline's.
EDIT: On Sunday, Dateline is on at 7PM, Eastern Standard Time.
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's interview, where she addresses some of the deaths in DH.
There will also be an online chat next week, and they're currently taking question submissions. Right now my biggest questions would be: a.) How exactly did Tonks and Lupin die and b.) Did Teddy end up being a werewolf, or does he just have wolfish tendencies like Bill.
That said, I really did enjoy today's interview. It answered some of the other questions I'd had (ie: what are the trio's jobs) and really made me realize just how wonderful an achievement the book is in the first place.
I'll have to watch those interviews sometime. Somehow I have the feeling I might miss the one tomorrow.
Since I am lazy...what are their jobs?
Harry and Ron are Aurors, Hermione works for the Ministry in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement (I think), and Luna is a wizarding naturalist. I really would watch the whole interview, though -- it's very good!
That's awesome! Thanks for posting that.
But...what is a wizarding naturalist?
I'm glad it's been confirmed that Harry's an Auror. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from him because the epilogue evoked such an ambiance of happy domesticity that I worried he'd given up that particular aspiration. But he and Ron "revolutionizing" the department sounds good. And yes, Hermione is "high up" in Dept. of Magical Law Enforcement.
I had a feeling Harry would be an Auror. It was Ron and Hermione I wasn't so sure of.
I'm hella excited for the encyclopedia

I DON'T CARE THAT I'M A DORK... I finished the book yesterday and had to wipe a tear away. It's sad to be over.
I couldn't help wondering if Rowling will write additional stories based on what was written in the epilogue.
Rowling is considering the aforementioned encyclopedia, but in that linked interview she states she will not write more novels of the wizarding world.
Heh, don't call yourself a dork. I'm nearly done rereading the book. I finished it the 21st, but I couldn't concentrate on anything else so I decided to read it again at a more leisurely pace. I'm almost scared to read the last several chapters now that I know what's coming. I think the "Godric's Hollow"/"Bathilda's Secret" and "The Forest Again" are some of the best episodes of all the books.
The Forest Again was so sad, but definitely my favorite. I really enjoyed The Prince's Tale for the memories.
Hah, Colbert just used HP again for his ad spot. He was like, "Spoiler alert! Hermione's really a dude, Harry's dad's name was in fact Rosebud, and at the end Harry wakes up in bed with [someone]."
I bet Harry's dad wouldn't have been so arrogant if his name was Rosebud. Also, he and Lily would make a lovely couple: Rosebud and Lily.
I agree with pretty much everything that's been said here, don't have much to add...
Just one thing that just occurred to me. Now, granted, I did sorta race through to the end, so maybe I missed something but....how did Neville get the sword? Last I remember, Griphook had it.
I probably missed something....
Mrs. Weasley rules!!!
When Voldemort put the Sorting Hat on Neville and tried to curse him with it, the sword fell out of the hat and Neville took it and killed Nagini.
Continuing from what GuitarGirl said, the idea seems to be that, despite Griphook's ideas on ownership, the sword truly belonged to Gryffindor and the magic binding it to Hogwarts and the Sorting Hat is capable of transporting it to the hat when a Gryffindor shows true courage.
Griphook did have it, but one of the "loopholes" seems to be that the sword will come to a true Gryffindor who's in need of it, and Neville was one. The sword fell out of the Sorting Hat for Neville as it did for Harry in Chamber of Secrets. Sucks for the previous holder, I guess, but a cool bit of magic.
I was wondering about that loophole, but I guess true Gryffindors come first. Bet Griphook wasn't too pleased. I would've loved if his reaction was in the epilogue.
Just finished. Holy crap.
Will say something more intelligent later.
