Roscoe, I agree, totally.

FYI, apparently the White House called Vilsack and basically told him to reconsider his decision.

I am not sure if the original decision came directly from the WH or not (but it does come from someone within the Obama Administration).

The only people coming out with a positive from the mess are Shirley and the farmers she helped.

The term I've heard applied to this is 'electronic McCarthyism'. David Gergen summed it up pretty well:

"This has ripped away the veil and shown us all that is wrong with politics today. An ideologue injects poison into the internet, other people rush to judgment on camera, and an administration gets stampeded and commits this travesty of justice. The NAACP has at least had the courage to come back and say 'we were wrong' and apologize. Now the administration needs to to the same thing. The president -- tonight -- ought to order the Agriculture Department to reopen this case, give this woman a fair hearing, and -- if the facts are as they seem -- reinstate her with an apology. Indeed, I think she deserves a whole lot more than an apology. I think she deserves honor for her attempts to bring people together."

The new spin I heard on the news this morning is that she wasn't "fired", but "asked to resign", which makes it sounds like she made her own choice to leave out of guilt. Why didn't anyone ask to see the whole speech before making any decisions? I blame everyone involved. This is utterly ridiculous and inexcusable.

The news media has a pervasive right wing bias and can whip up a tempest in minutes. I wish President Obama pull and Andrew Shepherd and take to the podium to attack Fox by name for these stunts and I imagine he'll have to if this stuff continues. What's encouraging though is they are NOT getting away with it. As you see by the above posts, the truth is coming out and the wheels are turning. Contrast this with a year ago when fox completely made up lies about ACORN and drove them to the brink of bankruptcy.

I hope this woman sues Fox for slander & libel- I'd go after Ailes, the network and every "Commentator" and "Reporter" who trashed her on TV.

Not to change the subject Count, but I think it would help us all to know you better: As a staunch Democrat, what were the policies and qualities that you saw in Barack Obama that made you a supporter? Did you support him throughout the primaries or were you a Clinton or Edwards man who migrated? Who do you expect to vote for in 2012- Obama again? If you could select a different democratic nominee who would it be and why. What principals of the Democratic Party do you think are most important? What makes you proud to be a Democrat?

Now Now Romantico, I think you owe Count an apology. I asked, he answered and I am glad of it- Of course now every time he posts I'll be considering his staunch liberal convictions. I'm already surprised he's such a strong Limbaugh backer since he disagrees with him about almost everything. I agree with you Count- Obama was wrong to act on inaccurate information spread by Breitbart and Fox. Obama has now called for her reinstatement and Vilsack has apologized. What should be the penalty against Breitbart and Fox? Should they be held responsible for smearing an innocent woman? Do you think a lawsuit is in order? What should her damages be? We have near carte blanche for the press (especially cable &internet outlets that do not answer to the FCC) but shouldn't they be punished somehow? Can't they be held responsible for their attacks on regular citizens?
