Count what does MSNBC have to do with this? Should Breitbart and Fox be held responsible for their false reporting? As a liberal don't you hate Fox news? I know you are a BIG Kos fan wouldn't it be great if HE was a guest on Fox sometime?

EXCELLENT Questions! What do YOU think- since you brought it up? Especially since both Breitbart and Fox are serial offenders- this debacle and ACORN to name but two with SERIOUS consequences for innocent folks. It doesn't seem quite fair that they are allowed to say anything without recourse. I imagine during the campaign as an Obama supporter who watch Fox it was VERY infuriating to see them lie about him repeatedly- what were some of the most egregious things you heard them mis-report? I was livid- but this, to me is even worse. This isn't a nationally known politician getting attacked it's a faceless bureaucrat who got plucked from obscurity and held up in contempt for something she didn't do- I am glad you share my outrage and agree SOMETHING needs to be done- where can this poor woman go to get her good name back????

I'm not sure that there is a legal penalty.

Ethically, we all make judgments about who we listen to, read, and/or watch. This leads to the economic impact. Fox news keeps growing especially in terms of their audience and profits.

Bravo Bill, for apologizing, even though you continued to mis-report even after your own network had realized it's "error." You'd think Bill would fire his producers for not catching that boo-boo.

You raise an interesting issue: Fox mis-reports but people still watch. Will "the market" ever punish Fox for it's misdeeds? And there are NO criminal penalties for inaccurate reporting- should a civil remedy be invoked? I can understand a candidate for president wouldn't sue Fox for reporting lies but what about Sherrod- an anonymous private citizen? Should she sue Breitbart and Fox? She lost her job and reputation- what should the penalty be?

And lastly I'm curious- you are a fox viewer, Count- don't you get frustrated by their "errors"? Do you find yourself using other sources to verify their reporting?

What sources do you find most accurate, Count? I listen to NPR a lot and feel that they are one of the most objective sources. I like to hear the BBC's take on American politics. and Christian Science Monitor seems to be scrupulously fair.

I do watch MSNBC and tend to tune in to that for 'breaking news" during the day- I find them to be pretty fair outside their 'commentary' block of shows in the evening.

There's an interesting page attached that shows the Fox Dichotomy- Liberals (like you) KNOW their reporting is inaccurate but the majority does not.

The Obama administration like to talk about 'teachable moments'. Unfortunately, they don't listen to their own advice. If they had been 'taught' by the Van Jones or ACORN affairs, they would have reacted very differently, and could of come out of this with a big 'win', instead of having egg on their face. Imagine if the administration had taken the time to investigate this, and Gibbs walked up to the mike and said, "We've discovered that the tape aired by some media outlets has been edited to distort her story. Ms. Sherrod is an honorable women and a dedicated public servant, and this White House stands by her".

Okay, I’m not done chewing the Shirley Sherrod bone, ‘cause serious questions remain.

Why the f-ck aren’t reporters asking some serious questions of the blogger who got all this **** stirred up?

ABC News has a piece online about how Andrew Breitbart got his start…but I couldn’t care less about that sh-t.

Has he corrected his story?

Will this pile of absolute bullsh-t push the mainstream media to revisit some of his other work…will it result in folks not buying what he’s selling anymore?

As a blogger, this is a big f-cking deal.

I’ve gotten sh-t wrong before…it sucks but it happens and when it does happen bloggers need to correct that ****.

But it doesn’t look like Breitbart simply got the story wrong.

It looks like he crafted this non-story story based on bullsh-t from jump...

In a world where a reporter can be fired after private emails are released…where comments on YouTube can end a career…hell, in a world where Shirley Sherrod is kicked to the curb faster than I can type “bullsh-t”…in that world Breitbart should be eaten alive for this story.

I’m not saying that we should ignore the role the Obama administration may or may not have played in this sh-t….

And I sure as sh-t am not saying that we shouldn’t examine and critique the knee jerk tossing of Sherrod under the bus by the NAACP…

But this story came from Andrew Breitbart…and this bitch thinks the same journalists who failed in their investigative duty by embracing this sh-t at face value need to get back to basics and apply some mother****ing due diligence to the How The F*CK Did This Story Happen? angle.

Go out and get your journalist on and follow the money.

Sh-t, this isn’t even that complicated – just follow the ****ing stank.

I just heard a clip of Mr. Breitbart saying "he could care less" about Sherrod- he did this to demonstrate the "Reverse racism" of the NAACP to counter the charge made by the NAACP that elements of the Tea Party are racist. If the best he can come up with is a 15 year old tape that had to be severely doctored because it actually was a black woman telling za black audience NOT to practice reverse discrimination can't you say that Breitbart has proven that reverse racism DOES NOT exist at the NAACP? And by his admission that he released the story to "get" the NAACP as revenge for their remarks about the Tea Party, doesn't it prove he is not legitimately a member of the press? After all, I've never heard of a news outlet saying they covered a story (much less manufactured one) to "get" so-and-so before.

Exactly Phyllis. He admits that his "Journalism" is not to serve the public good or to bring truth to the masses but to advance his conservative agenda. It is not "news" it is propaganda. I was just stunned to hear him admit it. Even during the ACORN smear he maintained that it was just good journalism and the public needed to know.

Count, you are a Liberal who blogs on the internet- are you going to Netroots? And since you didn't answer my questions I assume you cant? It's a shame cause I have loads more: Do YOU think Vince Foster was murdered? And was Hillary Clinton somehow involved? Can you cite any of the "rampant" incidents of racism in the NAACP? I hate to keep harping on that but if the NAACP is so racist, I just can't believe that Breitbart hasn't produced any evidence of it. If they say such awful stuff all the time, why do you have to go back 15 years and doctor a tape?

I am really anxious to hear you, a fellow liberal's, perspective.
