Marianne2, my friend kept IMing "Idina" to me during the show! She can't get over how much they resemble each other and thinks they even sound a bit alike.
I enjoyed the episode but, quite honestly, I am already over the wife and I hope they don't drag out the pregnancy thing until the end of the season and use it as a cliffhanger. I am assuming from something I read that we are going to start meeting the kids' families. I hope that happens soon to open it up a bit. But I am a fan so far. Love the song Lea sang. It was too short!
Second episode not nearly as good as the pilot - needs work.
I'm still a Gleek though.
The gag reflex line had me
I agree that this episode wasn't as good as the pilot....but that said, I will watch this show till the bitter end when the Fox execs yank it.

My daughter called me after the Finn/Rachel kiss to say she almost peed herself when Finn had to think of a car crash to avoid an erection.
That said, I can't stand either Matthew Morrison's character's wife or potential girlfriend. Concentrate on the kids...the rest is a distraction.
Well, you're supposed to hate the wife.......
Jordan- isn't luft balloons the German translation of the song 99 Red Balloons- from the "80's?
That's what I was assuming, mom.......
I will say the wife redeemed herself one tiny sliver when even though she lied about the pregnancy she told him to stop being the janitor and stay in that house etc. But i still don't like her (which as said is supposed to be the case). Emma, is, I dunno yet. The vomiting scene was hilarious.

Point taken on the wife, but are we supposed to like Emma? Right now she's just a combination of OCD and desperation.
The fake pregnancy bit has been done to death, and unless they're going to offer some new twist to it, they'd better kill that arc quickly.

I haven't watched last night's yet, but I finally watched the pilot, which underwhelmed me, but I'll admit wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
I just saw the words "fake pregnancy," so I assume that's about Matt Morrison's wife. WTF is up with that storyline? Period. Why give him a wife at all if she's going to be shrewish and awful and clearly they want you to root for him to get with Jayma Mays?
Every line Jane Lynch delivers is brilliant.
"Jordan- isn't luft balloons the German translation of the song 99 Red Balloons- from the "80's?"
Yes, and when Morrison hands her the lis of approved songs, Lea Michele says "What's a luft balloon?" and I just lost my sh*t, I laughed so hard.
Didn't that come out first as the German version and then it was translated into English after? Trying to channel my Pop Up Video knowledge but it is failing me.
I should have never d/l'd Gold Digger...can't stop listening to it and I don't even like the original song.

One of the problems with this show is that they are using the trend of writing a whole show of quirky characters. While they are funny, they get old very quickly. Look at the quirky character factor in this show: gym teacher, principal, the germ freak teacher, the nutty wife. Even the students are written quirky. They need to bring in some characters that are stable and normal to balance it out.
Well I think Finn has the most normal nature out of them all. Even all the quirks they try to give him are relatively normal for a teenage boy.

Please define normal. Every person I know has their quirks and idiosyncracies. Wouldn't life be boring without them? Plus, what's so abnormal about Mr. Sheu? I had one teacher in school that was that hot, and boy . . . memories. Oops distraction.
Go Gleek!
CSonBroadway I loved that part. When he was telling Mercedes "You need to call me before you get dressed, you look like a technicolor zebra!" I almost fell off my bed! LOL LOL
https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Foxs_GLEE_Grabs_Big_Youth_Audience_Ratings_For_DebutReturn_NBC_Nabs_Overall_Win_For_Night_20090910
FOX's GLEE drew a big youth audience (but a less impressive older audience grab) in its premiere/return last night. For the night, NBC won overall, but FOX dominated in the key demographic.
Among adults 18-49, FOX averaged a 3.0 rating on Wednesday, way ahead of the 1.9 rating for NBC and ABC's 1.6 rating. The CW came in with a 1.5 rating, beating the 1.3 rating for CBS.
Overall, NBC averaged an estimated 8.11 million viewers to go with a 5.2 rating/8 share. FOX's 4.2/7 was second on the night, nipping the 4.1/7 for CBS. ABC's 3.4/6 and the 2.2/4 for The CW followed.
haha, in regards to Terri:
"But there's one big flaw in "Glee," which was created in part by "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy, and it may be a harbinger of bad things to come. Will's wife, Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig), manages to drain all the fun out of "Glee" every time she appears. Not only is this shrill character intensely annoying, but she makes you wonder whether Will has brain damage. What other explanation could there be for his ending up with this materialistic harpy?"

funny, but I still dig the facial hair.
And I promise I will now stop with the links. Blame boredom at work and trying not to go back to spreadsheet hell.

Yeah. They should just write her off like she never happened.

According to tvshowsondvd.com, there's a director's cut DVD of the pilot available exclusively at Walmart for $5.00 that includes a mail-in offer for a T-shirt plus previews and behind the scenes footage.
Supposedly it's been available since September 1, but I haven't seen it there...has anyone else outside NYC?
I heard about the DVD too, which I didn't know about. I might have to check it out, but not today because I'm going to Bye Bye Birdie later.
