Among all the preposterous things she has said, this is perhaps the most quantifiably ridiculous. In a just world, the folks in the media would call her out on this. Sadly, she'll probably be given a pass.

I liked her saying that "gas was $1.79 a gallon when Obama took office." Pretty much a textbook demonstration of how to lie: Be extremely specific-sounding, but leave out any details that do not advance your case (like it had just dropped down after weeks around the $4 range).

And like gas stayed at $1.79 for about a minute. Obviously because the first thing Obama did after his inauguration was jack up the price of oil. All by himself.

Well she obviously doesn't live in the 21st century, as is evident from her recent statement that we should be afraid of "the rise of the Soviet Union"...and pretty much everything else that comes out of her mouth. Poor, poor Michelle.

WHY can't any intelligent women become involved in politics for once? Oy.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

One did...her name is Hillary Clinton. Alas, the good folks here in 'Murrika are SO terrified of strong smart women running ANYTHING that she didn't have a chance.

People like Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann rise to the prominence they've risen to because that is all the American people can handle, and that frankly is all they deserve. A nation of truly intelligent people would not allow such silliness, but this is clearly not that nation.

It would not surprise me at all if Gillibrand eventually became our first female president. I don't rule out Clinton in 2016, but for now I take her at her word that she has no intention to run. I still think a Clinton/Booker ticket in 2016 would be a winner.

wrong question. there are intelligent women in politics. the real question is why the GOP won't put any of them forward as its candidates, like susan collins or olympia snowe, from maine, who are, even if you don't agree with them, at least rational, intelligent individuals.

the fact that they only offer us these nutjobs should immediately put people on their guard.

So just to be clear, Bachman is advocating that the Federal Government manipulate the free market to lower commodity prices for the masses.

Funny, when Obama tries to do this in the health care arena, he is called a Socialist, Marxist, Fascist ...
