Gay man shot dead in West Village hate crime.

The 32 yo victim was gunned down after being chased out of a restaurant by a man shouting homophobic slurs. Shooter was caught by NYPD and admitted to the crime.

This is the 4th or 5th anti-gay crime in NYC in the the past few weeks.

Kelly said the suspected gunman was caught urinating on the outside wall of a West Village bar, and then he walked into the bar and threatened the bartender with a silver pistol. The suspect then left the bar with two other men, and the trio confronted the victim and a male companion walking down the street. The alleged shooter called the victim and companion anti-gay slurs and asked if they were "gay wrestlers," according to Kelly. After the victim was shot once, the suspect fled to MacDougal Street and West 3rd Street, where Kelly said the alleged gunman dropped his weapon and was caught by police.

Oh god. This is so terrifying. I walked right by this exact spot at 11:40ish last night. I've been kind of freaking out about all these hate crimes, but I kept telling myself nothing would happen so close to me and so early. But now I'm really scared.

I think every gay man in NYC has walked by that spot at that hour of the night at that time- and many do so regularly. It is terrifying.

This is beyond terrifying! Heard about this on news radio as i was heading to 30 Rock. I hope this guy is put away for the rest of his life!

I live around the corner from that location..it used to be much safer in the w. Village. Not so anymore.

Unfortunately this area has become more dangerous on weekends. A much stronger police presence is desperately needed along 6th Avenue and along Christoper Street.

In case you hadn't noticed, Bloomberg checked out of the job of mayor of New York City a long time ago. All he's concerned about is people not having any fun. His latest worry is about too many people going to college.
