This show has meant a lot to me over the years, and I was so sad to see it go. I kind of wish they had built it up more, in that, almost no one I know actually knew it was ending. Oh well.
That said, I was very pleased with the finale. It could have been a lot worse. While I am a huge Luke and Lorelai fan, I am so glad that even though it was present it wasn't the focus. They focused on the girls and the supporting characters who have been so important the whole time. I absolutely adored everything with the grandparents in it. I've had my ups and downs with them, but ultimately they are perfect characters for the show and Lorelai. And everything with them this episode was perfect. I loved that they got almost all of the quirky main supporting characters in there in some way. Ms. Patty, Babette, Maury, Kirk, Lulu, Taylor, and even Gypsy were all in there. That was nice.
Oh, and did anyone else notice that the very last scene was the exact same shot from the last scene of the pilot? Rory and Lorelai sitting at Luke's with Luke behind them, and then the camera goes out through the window. Great throwback.
I do REALLY hope we get to know the "words" ASP originally had planned. I've been looking forward to that for years.
I will really miss the Gilmores. It's too bad the show had to go out on such a bad season, but the finale was very good.

That made me VERY happy. I have watched the pilot about 20 times...

I know! I really want to know what they were.
I thought the finale was pretty good, I liked the last scene. It was a dignified way for the show to end, which is something it hasnt had very much of this season, to say the least

In the next year or two, she hopes to make -- wait for it -- a two-hour Gilmore Girls TV-movie that ties up all those loose threads! (BTW, lest you think Amy was pulling my leg, her partner in life and in showbiz, Dan Palladino, confirmed that a GG reunion pic is something they're interested in pursuing.)

tink! that's very exciting news.
I was thinking about the finale today, and the more I think about it, the more upset I am that they shot that before they knew for sure that they werent coming back
