Two hours until the season 7 premiere! Very excited! Anyone else planning on watching?

Posted: 9/26/06 at 5:57pmOf course! I'm obsessed with this show. It sounds like a great episode tonight (I read a really detailed recap from someone who saw the screener).

Can't WAIT to see Luke punch Chris in the face whenever that one is!

I'm actually a Lor/Chris fan, so I'm excited to see what's going to happen there. *hides as people throw things*
David Rosenthal has definitely managed to capture the feel of the show, so props to him! Paris was especially funny. I missed Emily and Richard tonight, though.

Ok, so Logan gave Rory a rocket as a gift that symbolized a twilight zone episode that their love would last for forty years. Lorelai slept with Chris, and left in the morning. She and Luke definitely broke up, and Chris called Lorelai to be together again, but she said no. Luke came back and gave this whole speech about wanting to get married right now and they should leave for Maryland right now. They she told him she slept with Christopher, and he got in his car and left. Taylor put in a camera at the traffic light to catch red light runners and Kirk was driving the car to demonstrate. The camera light blinded and he ran the car into Luke's Diner and smashed everything. Oh, and in his little speech, Luke said he didn't care at all about the diner but his life had to have Lorelai in it. That's the only way he saw it.
Did I miss anything?
Edit because I forgot to add my thoughts: I think that Lorelai has to be with Chris for a time before she and Luke can be together. It's just something she has to do. It was really a hearbreaking episode. Luke at the end was so sad. They definitely seemed to keep the right feeling of the show. Though I hope it goes back more toward the wittiness, but I think they didn't do it this time because everything had to play out dramatically. I CANNOT wait to see the rest of the season.

That was like a watered down version of Gilmore Girls! I was so disappointed with the writing. The best part was when the car went through Luke's. Oh, what the other writers would do with such an event!

Posted: 9/26/06 at 10:03pmI don't think it was any worse than what last season was. I'm sure it's just while the really dramatic stuff plays out- then it will get back to the wittiness.

Posted: 9/26/06 at 10:06pmI hate Chris, and nothing will ever make me like him. He has never in the entirety of the series that I can recall done (read: followed through with) anything that reflected anything other than his own self-absorption. The end.

Posted: 9/26/06 at 10:13pmI was trying not to notice or not to pay attention to it, but I could tell that there was a different writer right off the bat. The pacing was off; it just didn't sound the same to me.

I missed the show (I was in the most boring class of the year so far), but just wanted to throw in my thoughts on the whole chris/loreli thing---I really love Chris. I know, there's so much going against his character, but I can't help it. I just want them to get back together! I think he's a better fit than Luke, and has Rory's best interest at heart(I know, I know, he's her dad, but still)...

Posted: 9/26/06 at 10:19pmTotally and completely disagree with you. Especially watching reruns of the older episodes, you can't tell me that Luke isn't more of a father figure to Rory than Chris is.

Anyone else notice this:
When Rory told Lorelai about the gift she got, the title of the episode of the Twilight Zone was "The Long Morrow." And Lorelai goes, "Stupid name" or something. "The Long Morrow" was the name of this episode of Gilmore Girls. I thought that was very clever. Before I even looked up the name of the episode, I thought that would be what it was.

Posted: 9/26/06 at 11:21pmI gave up the show after last season, besides it's on at the same time as House and NCIS, Hugh Laurie or Michael Weatherly, take your pick

Posted: 9/27/06 at 9:38amI have to confess that I'm a Lorelai/Chris fan. She and Luke have nothing in common, and Chris has really settled down in the last few years. I'm also really hoping that Logan hooks up with some girl in London so Rory can see what a jerk he really is, and then she can finally see how awesome Marty is. Although I think she'll probably end up with Jess in the end. Either way, as long as she's not with Logan, I'm happy.

Posted: 9/27/06 at 10:43amI love Luke and I was heartbroken when Lorelei told him about Chris.

I agree that the pacing was really off and what normally sounds like fun, quippy dialogue just seemed like a series of manic monologues.
To me it basically felt like someone screaming, "I Promise I can write for the characters - WATCH!"
I love the characters so I am not giving up, but I was actually quite disappointed in premiere last night and none of my concerns were even remotely squashed.

I was dissapointed with this episode!
I love Luke and I am sad he didnt sucker punch Chris yet.
The part i did like was the car going into the diner. Then Rory telling her mom about it ahwn she said " im ok, im ok." Thats was really it for me.
I hope it gets better next week.

I thought there were extremely funny moments in the dialogue but it did not have the ASP zing. As Patronus said it seemed like someone said "I can do this."
As far as Lorelai-Chris-Luke, I remain convinced that this is the most strained and irrational "love triangle" in a decent show.
I don't think that Luke and Lorelai should have "something in common" the reason that their relationship (when written well, which it hasn't been for two seasons now) works is that he provides the balance for her franticness, and she the light to his dark. Lorelai and Chris, even now, is a juvenile relationship. They have fun, it is passionate, they both need something "else". That she keeps going back to him, is a tired dramatic device, that needs to stop.
