Princess, thanks so much. I am in agreement with you. It's sad that people have to personally attack you and be nasty.
I love how I'm supposed to be calm and stoic at the prospect of never being able to legally marry, raise children, or even to leave my worldly belongings to my partner of 9 years when JLO or Britney or the Hilton nitwits can exercise these rights at the drop of the hat.
I love that I'm supposed to embrace Republicans while they blithely take away my rights under the guise of "moral imperatives". Morals? I've been in the same monogamous relationship since college yet straight people can cheat on their spouses, sexually abuse their spawn and still claim moral superiority.
Screw it! This is not just a battle of opinions. This IS personal. Livelihoods are at stake and it's despicable for anyone to celebrate the rise of bigotry in this country.
I agree, now that , as a gay man, my rights will be trampled I feel sad. Way to gloat over that MimiCaca.
Oh and Mimicaca, since Jonathan Larson or any of his characters wouldn't agree with your viewpoint, why don't you change your name to a more appropriate one. Roy Cohn comes to mind.
Actually you're probably justy a hateful little brat. Go back to the sandbox.

Well, I've said before that the Princess and I shoudl get together.
Personally, I'm enjoying the day.
By the way, Canada doesn't want you arseholes.
Personally, I think the Northeast should just be thrown out of the country (see the Civil War thread)
The Republicans who have worked so hard to divide and conquor, to actively deprive people of rights, to label dissenters as traitors, and mostly to paint fear-inducement as a positive for the future ... have a helluva nerve awaking today and asking for unity and to "move on..." One man's moving on is another's denial. The rancorous campaign may be over, but the issues that were used to make "red" and "blue" as confrontational as the Capuletsand Montagues cannot be swept under the rug. The debate moves from these two men into more -- dare I use the word -- nuanced discussion about how the disenfranchised, marginalized and actively dissed can carve out their own American Dream in a climate oblivious to their needs and hopes.

this is random but..
it's silly cause bush didn't even win the popular vote the first time.. so technically he shouldn't even be our president..

well put South Fl Marc! opinions are opinions but what business does anyone with THOSE opinions have identifying herself with RENT? Roy Cohn seems a good suggestion. or PrincessMimiCoulter

THANK YOU, Goth and Rodney, and the other people who dsidn't have to resort to mudslinging and calling me names. It's nice to know there are still rational people on this board who can ACCEPT this election even if they don't agree with it.
I think it's funny that when I said "bye" people took that to mean I was leaving for good! Don't get too excited, guys, it takes more than childish name-calling to get rid of me =) I still love most of you guys, though!! Some of you need serious anger management.

Come on, Matt you KNOW there would be a "in your face, Rodney" thread if things were reversed.
I'm still reeling over the fact that she doesn't know who Julie Harris is!

I usually would never post on a political thread b/c we all have our own opinions. Some hate Bush, others feel that way towards Kerry, but when I see that people are completely misinformed, that's what drives me crazy.
"it's silly cause bush didn't even win the popular vote the first time.. so technically he shouldn't even be our president.." Ummmm, what? The candidate doesn't have to win the popular vote. The rule is that they need 270 electoral votes. That's it, end of discussion. While people might not agree with that rule, that's the way it is. Along as he gets that magic number, "270" you can throw the popular vote out the window. While most of the time the candidate usually wins both the electoral & popular vote, that doesn't have to be the case. I wish people would realize that before bashing Bush for something that's in the Constitution.

Susan - maybe what they're trying to say is that our process needs some reevaluation. Perhaps there is something wrong with the process when the man who wins the majority of the votes, isn't elected. We all know how the electoral college works, but maybe its time to devise a new plan. The current system leaves us feeling very powerless. It is basically telling us all that our votes don't really matter. I know that changing the system would be a very difficult process, but it's worth a though. In any case Bush did win the popular vote this time, so its really not relevant.

Probably because RodneyK has constantly been in everyone else's face from day one. You reap what you sow. Gloating only breeds animosity. Had Kerry won, and the rest of the board gloated, I'm sure MimiCaca and RodneyK would be predictably vile on the subject as well. With regards to this board, nothing has changed. Everyone is behaving exactly as expected regardless the outcome of the election.
now, over time we've heard that we're running the largest defecit in history and when some tried to point out that proportionally that wasn't exactly true. so i want those people who accepted those numbers about the defecit to accept these numbers too:
george w. bush won more votes this year than anyone in the history of the presidential race.
But only just.
Here's another one:
George W. Bush had the lowest rating of an incumbent in US history.

Pfft. And we had the "largest" voter turnout, too, right?
Reminds me of how shows and movies today keep shattering box-office records.

he won more votes b/c more people voted than ever. The percentages were less than impressive. Don't try to convince us to like your guy. I imagine Kerry got more votes than ever as well - because more people turned out! Winning with a 51% margin isn't really anything to brag about. If he had recieved 90% then by all means I'd let you come over to my house and do cartwheels to rub it in my face, but thats not the case.
"MimiCaca"
Yup, way to take the high road yourself, Mister Matt. I'm glad you know me well enough to predict how I would have reacted if Kerry had won. I wouldn't have been happy, but i'd get over it and wouldn't whine about it like everyone else here.
