Yes, but you still haven't told us why it is you like and respect Bush so much, MimiChica. We're waiting.
Cause she's an idiot.

as a reply and for the only time ever, i'll suggest you scroll up and examine closely rodney's seal.
where was this acceptance of proportionality before? and what happened to a large turnout favoring kerry? what about all those undecideds that were gona break 2-1 for lurch?
like i think anyone here is really gonna accept bush no matter what his numbers, please. this and the previous post were two of my three constitutionally allowable "things to do while waiting for lurch's concession speech" gloats. i have one left, but am saving that one for a very, very special occasion.
ok, toodles, please return to your regularly scheduled p*ssing and moaning.
Okay, I'll moan, Papa, but you know me well enough to know I'm pee shy.
papa,
i'm sorry.
but i'm profoundly sad that people in my life can vote for a man who would denigrate me and my capacity to love another human being.
call that pissing and moaning all you want...but, for your sake, i hope you NEVER EVER EVER understand what it truly means to be a second-class citizen.
and I will never ever understand how you could make such a choice.

Shesings, I wasn't talking about whether the process is right or wrong. But when someone says that Bush shouldn't even have been elected the 1st time b/c he didn't win the popular vote, that's just not true! He did win b/c that's what the law says, regardless of your political party.
IMHO, I don't agree with the electoral college either. However, that's our system. I just don't like when people say things that they think are true but aren't even close.
Thanks Shesings for a respectful response. Like I said, I never post in politcal threads and unfortunately, it's back to work for me. Happy debating everyone.
robbie, i love you dearly and apologize if my comments in any way upset you. they were intended for other audiences, but sometimes i take a decidedly scattershot approach. some night we'll have a drink and i'll 'splain my vote to you and you can throw c*cktail peanuts (or something heavier) at me.
that said, you can moan to me anytime, but i draw the line at golden showers.
oh and sueleen, a little bird tol' me you gots nothin' to be shy about.
at.
all.
My papa,
What's tough here is addressing two different Republican audiences. There are the true uninformed ingoramuses. And then there are the considered gentlement like you and Christopher, whom I know to be decent and intelligent, but whom I feel have made a dreadful mistake.
In the end, I see a glimmer of hope in the likes of you and Christopher. A hope that people are truly decent and fair. But it's a very faint glimmer this morning, my friend.
My parents voted for Bush. I can't even begin to tell you how that hurts.
I'm desperately trying to keep civil, but there are so many people that are being personally insulting to others, I'm having trouble keeping chipper. But then I remember that we control the house, senate, executive, and soon judicial branches. :) Cheers.
G'Head jump all over me... earlier I was feeling a gracious winner... but some of you guys have effectively shat on that.
Again, Christopher,
You have NO CONCEPT what it's like to not be treated equally under the law. And how you could be happy with even the slightest possibility that Lawrence v. Texas and Roe v. Wade could be overturned at some point is beyond me.

To add my own little perspective to this, I don't like seeing Bush turning this country into one under seige. I come from a country that's been under seige just about every day since it was founded. And that country is living, breathing proof that an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. Not to mention showing how religion can really screw up the works of even a seemingly solid democracy.
Ah hell Robbie... I just knew that it would be you who responded, and you know that I can't argue with you.
I have a concept. I can understand what anger I would feel if I was denied a right that others get. I am also confident that our democracy will not allow the radical changes that you mention to take effect. There will be no constitutional amendment, and the government will never slip back that far. We won't allow it.
My recent comments were really directed towards folks like CurtainUp and the others that would rather insult than reason.

oh crap ... does Kerry's concession speech at 1 mean I'm going to have to miss Days of Our Lives?!? Now they've gone too far!

How broad-ranging are those new gay marriage bans? Do they interfere with all kinds of legal partnerships? This stuff is happening now, and sometimes those laws have the potential to affect more than gays. Updated On: 11/3/04 at 12:39 PM
"Yup, way to take the high road yourself, Mister Matt."
Who says I did? I said everyone's reaction was predictable.
"I wouldn't have been happy, but i'd get over it and wouldn't whine about it like everyone else here."
I'm sure that was very easy for you to say, but to not whine would certainly have proven to be out of character. I guess we'll never know. Those of us who are not granted equal rights in this country as endorsed and encouraged by your candidate of choice have earned the right to whine and will do so with appropriate gusto, dramatic flair, and breathtaking costumes. Those who wish to gloat over the victory of a self-proclaimed bigot and dictator can choke on our collective sequins.
Saddam was a dictator, he killed and squandered for his own benefit. Bush is steadfast in his beliefs, which happen to be the beliefs of more than half of the country. Methinks one should live under a real dictator before bandying about that title. It's analagous to the "Hitler" thing. It only legitimizes the evil of true dictators.
I have faith in my country... under Bush or under Kerry. We will survive, and we will succeed. The people rule. Make your voice heard, but don't cloud your reason with hostility. I will gladly swallow your sequins, but it will only silence someone who supports your cause.
You heard it here first: If there is a constitutional amendment I'll happily swallow a whole bucket of sequins.
Princess MimiChica i'm with ya! i would like to say congrads to bush too!. yes i voted for bush and i am gay, and i love theatre...against the odds huh??..instead of wasting your time being rude to the republicans like were in 5th grade. why don't you take the time and suck the news up that bush is going to be our president for 4 more years.

Sadaam WAS a dictator. He did NOT deserve to be in power. That just shouldn't have been our main priority. Especially since he wasn't a direct threat to us (unless we count oil). I am sympathetic to the Iraquis, but I am more sympathetic to the people from my own country who were killed by Osama. He's who we should have been after.
ok- I have read this while thread and I am totally disgusted. Its amazes me how a woman can be a republican, when her own rights are at stake. I cant agree more with Robbie....all of you that are "gloating" will NEVER know whats its like to be a second class citizen. You wont know what its like to have a dying family member in a hospital bed and not be able to hold their hand while they die because "you are not family". Its all about the almighty dollar....It saddens me to see that Ohio has gone this route after spending 4 months in Cleveland....the MOST impoverished city in Ohio....The poverty is astounding there. The sad faces that walk around that city. The look of no where to turn. I hope you never have to feel that kind of desparation or that kind of grief.
musicalfandukie..you need to earn respect around here like Papa and CKeaton have. They're intelligent men and can back up their views...unlike what I've read in your post that sounds like you ARE in the 5th grade.
'yes i voted for bush and i am gay, and i love theatre'
I'm just glad that I never hated myself that much.
Dictators believe they should invade and convert other countries to their own form of government. They also believe that only one religion should be acknowledged and respected. Bush is a dictator. For a more objective view, talk to pretty much anyone in Europe. They've been calling him a dictator for years. And they know a thing or two about dictators.
Interesting....NBC is saying that Hillary Clinton will run for president in '08. I think that is a GREAT idea. She is hated by the Republicans as much as Bush is hated by the Democrats, that she will probably win! That is a quote from NBC

The world is full of dictators, including ones with more direct designs on us than Hussein. Do we go around attacking them all?
Uh, no. We're the country with the most resources, but not one with unlimited resources. And frankly, I find Bush's flip-flopping (ha!) about the reasons for invading Iraq in the first place to be extremely alarming. Starting a war is the most important, deadly, significant decision a President can make. The reasons for it shouldn't be some kind of vague pre-emption strategy. A new world order doesn't mean an end to "old-fashioned" morality.
