You have no idea what I just Google Images-ed before I reconsidered getting this thread deleted, and refrained.

No idea.

What happened at the very beginning? I missed the first few minutes before the Grey's Anatomy logo.

Was the part with all the doctors in the chief's office before the logo? If so, McDreamy, Burke, Christina, and Bailey were in the chief's office discussing what should happen with Burke and Christina and Bailey got quite upset. I feel like there was something else... was it Meredith with her mom? And her mom was talking about how she wished she had never had a daughter.

Good episode, very intense. But they need more freakin' Addison! I liked that they were very human and questioning themselves. And George's dad... that was so sad...

The part with George's dad killed me...my dad had a heart attack and while he was in recovery I took over and I had to run things for my family. It was a hard adjustment for all of us.

Can anyone tell me who played Meredith's stepmom in last night's episode?

Mare Winningham played Meredith's stepmother.

Great episode last night. Although, I wanted to SMACK Meredith when she was talking to the stepmom, "You're very nice, but I don't know you. You're not my family." Shut up for five seconds Meredith and think about somone other than yourself. It was just rude. The lady's daughter just went through a traumatic experience. The baby is sick. Show some compassion and play along for a little while, Meredith!

OK. Rant aside...

Burke's storyline was interesting last night. He's acting strange. Loved seeing Bailey get so emotional. And the twins story was great. And Addison rules.

I can understand where Meredith was coming from when she said that. Her father wasnt a part of her life when he married her stepmother. Thus, her stepmother and half-siblings, while yes, the siblings are blood related, were never her family. I can understand that. I have a half brother. For reasons I'd rather not go in to, I never really knew him growing up -- he was never a part of my life. I never considered him my family until within the past 6 years, when he became a part of my life. Before that, he was just someone I heard about. So yeah, I can understand where they had her character coming from.

I liked the uneasy kind of comfortable "tension" between Burke and Christina. You could see that they were still somewhat at odds but that what they felt for each other still shone through. And I loved that they had Christina get on the elevator with Burke at the end (and from what I saw, it looked like she kind of backed up so she was almost close enough to lean into him). I thought that was nice. And ending the show with the moment between Meredith and her mother? Oh, that killed me just a little.

Are the shows reruns next week? Neither Grey's or Ugly Betty showed a preview for next week's show.... and that makes me a little sad.

Meredith usually bugs me, but last night I really felt for her. While I've enjoyed the show from the start, I really think they've hit their stride this season.

And CJR, it's a repeat next week.

I liked last night too, but was a bit peturbed by the ads for it saying "if youve never watched one episode of Grey's Anantomy, this is the one that will get you hooked!!!" I think not. Last night was good, but if I had never watched the show I would'nt be hooked.

I am so in love with Mare Winningham. I squealed with delight when I saw her. She is a divine actress. I agree, Meredith was a little mean to her character, Susan. I mean Meredith was totally honest, but it was a tad cruel. I cried when Mare (Susan) said "we can be your family". Totally touching.

Mare's CDs are good too if you like folky/Nancy Griffith type stuff, as I do.

I didn't know Mare sang! I've always liked her as an actress - who knew?

Meredith's comment was honest, but her timing was insensitive and selfish which is what made me want to smack her. I mean sure - have the conversation, but there's a time and a place y'know? It's not all about you Meredith!

But then again this is TV - they had to squeeze it in where they could.

I missed a bit toward the end. Did George's Dad survive?

I don't recall if they gave the fate of George's dad. If you want to hear Mare sing rent the movie "Georgia" which is a GREAt performance of her. I think she got an Oscar nod for it. Also, you can listen to clips online at Amazon I believe.

Sorry for thread-jacking to become the Mare Winningham love thread. Back to Grey's.

I was a little dissapointed in last night's episode. I was expecting a pretty good episode from what I'd seen/heard in the ads, and there was nothing that I thought would hook anyone who had never watched it before. I actually thought the episode was somewhat uneventful.

I thought that Meredith's "You're not my family" comment to her step-mother was really rude. I realize that her father wasn't around when he re-married, and that she really hasn't seen him in a while, but her step-mom was being incredibly sweet. I think Meredith should've handled things differently. But what else is new? These are the things that make me dislike Meredith.

I was really annoyed that there was barely any Addison in this episode! She's my favorite character and it seems like since she & Derek got divorced we don't really see all that much of her. re: Grey's Anatomy
I'm still hoping that Addison & Derek will get back together. I know it probably won't happen, but a girl can dream can't she? re: Grey's Anatomy

I haven't been able to watch the last few episodes so I'm a little behind. I've been reading the recaps though. I read somewhere (don't remember where) that Addison and Alex might have something going on this season. That would be interesting.

Kate lets something that hints to that effect slip on the season 2 DVD commentary.

I was one of the biggest Mer/Der fans, but she has just annoyed the crap out of me this season. I don't want him with her anymore if this is the way she is going to be.

I think that right now Mer is being all weird because of her mom. Her alzhimer's is getting worse and worse and I'm sure that it is hard on Mer. She keeps talking about how she never wanted Mer and how she hated Thatcher. Meredith is going through a lot emotionally. I think that she needs Derek. As far as the "you're not my family thing" I think Mer will come around. Right now her mom is really sick and I think Mer would feel like she was abandoning her mom if she accepted this new family. If she did that then she would treat her mom like she feels her dad treated her.
