It was a fun read...I cant believe there were no pictures, though!

Awww...I forgot about the picnic thread. Sad to read so many posts from Mominator. I miss her.
Others...not so much.
Reading the picnic thread made me realize I was perusing the Off-Topic board at that time!
I wonder what happened to Love4Cheno. I used to correspond with him, but noticed he hasn't posted in close to 5 years.
Wow... thinking back to the picnics. What a summer that was.

Then we had some "poster of the day" thread or something like that..where we picked one of favorite people to be person of the day.
that thread is posted here by Jose. It was COTD - Celebrity of the day, I think!
I'm sad to have missed the hay day of BWW, but glad to know so many of you now. Virtually or otherwise.

I can only imagine how entertaining it must have been to watch this forum develop over the course of 10 years.
Here's another glimpse into the early years of BWW and the Off-Topic Board.
Quite an interesting read, and it's less than 10 thread pages.
Enjoy!

So many annual things that only happened once!
The BWW Idol experience was pretty epic as well.
I remember it sent Tiff into a meltdown.

That whole thing made me feel horrible. It was the sort of ongoing thread I only occasionally glanced at and I remember earnest people singing into their computers and judges being all Simon Cowell and I'm thinking, "They're just earnest people singing earnestly into their computers!" Plus, like everything else, it was too long. Like "Ghandi" long.
We should have a get together to meet people in person in the NYC area
The Celebrity of the Day threads make me nostalgic. We all had such love and respect--and curiosity!--for each other. Adults and kids were all celebrated, and we got to know a little bit about what each of us was like off the board.
That was truly BroadwayWorld's "There was a time..." moment:
There was a time when posters were kind and their voices were soft and their words inviting. When love was blind and the world was a song and the song was exciting...
But then of course, there was a time when it all went wrong.

I also liked the COTD threads. All we know about each other (mostly) are comments typed in here. Knowing more about the person was interesting to me. I enjoyed reading the Q's and A's from people I hardly recognized here, too.
brd is correct. Since Facebook took over, there was no need for the COTD thread, which was fun.
Now, if you like someone on here, you friend them and find out all about them.
Actually, Facebook slowed traffic here to a crawl and we lost alot of fun posters.
Those threads sound really fun!
Bring the old BWW back!!
I'm Facebook friends with a good handful of BWW posters, but I still like interacting with them here.
Ahhh, one thing I believe is that you can't go back.
And you know what? If we had that same in/out thread today, I bet the same things that appeared as ins and outs would appear now.
So I guess another thing I believe is that nothing changes!

The revival couldn't be as good as the original but you never know.
Hey, I"m game.
Yeah, but sometimes you get LuPone in Anything Goes, and sometimes you get Sutton Foster.
If I remember correctly, the COTD threads were stopped by the mods, no? I can't remember why.
