Ah yes...happy VD to all!
Enjoy!
Loved the clip! LOL
Happy F'in Valentines Day to everyone in love. And to everyone else, whoever wants to come over to my place tonight and watch horror movies and cry into pillows over how much this day sucks, let me know.

I'll be there, Jordan. What time?
There should be a single person's day. Then everyone in relationships can be jealous of us for 1 day.

Don't worry. Most days, we ARE jealous of you.
Replace that Skippy jar with Nutella and that will be my night.

I guess I come from a different time and place.
My first experience with Valentine's Day was in Kindergarten, when we brought in valentines for everyone. It was a day to celebrate the concept of loving care between you and the world, whatever the connection - romantic involvement certainly wasn't the focus in my childhood.
Even though I didn't get married until I was almost 40, I still celebrated and got cards for the people in my life - to celebrate the LOVE that we shared between us. I went last week to get cards, and there are sections with ones for mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends, etc. So, how is this reduced to some petulant whine about being alone while others in relationships get to have all the joy and fun?
I truly feel badly for someone who doesn't feel they have experience in their life that allows them to celebrate LOVE, whatever their connections might be.
Go out and get laid! That always perked up a valentine's day when I was single...
Here is the late Nancy LaMott singing "I'll Be Here With You" on Good Morning America on Valentine's Day in 1995.

It was her last Valentine's Day. Shortly after, she was operated on for uterine cancer. Ten months later, she was dead.
But during those ten months, while she was undergoing chemotherapy, she released an album, she played multiple engagements around the United States, including a sold-out week at New York's Tavern on the Green, she performed at the White House and on radio broadcasts and on television on Good Morning America, the Charles Grodin Show, and Live with Regis and Kathie Lee.
And during that last, awful year, at age 44, she finally met the love of her life. An hour before she died, a priest married them in her hospital room.
Love, they say, comes in mysterious ways, at the most inconvenient times, and takes forms you never expected. When it comes, it is up to us to be of good cheer and not succumb to self-pity. And to remain so, after it comes, which is just as hard.
PalJoey, that story gets to me every time I hear it!
And, I'm with Q... the celebration of Valentine's Day isn't just restricted to lovers. Love, in all forms, can be celebrated!
I share this favorite quote from a favorite movie:
Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around.
PJ- Thank you for that story. The man she married, Pete Zapp, is one of the best acting teachers I ever had.
I feel V-day for us single folks is a great day to celebrate the love in our life. However, I think V-day is actually counter productive. Since flowers, cards, diamonds, etc. are expected, they become very un-romantic. If you REALLY want to romance your belle or beaux, buy them a card or a bouquet of flowers on a random day of the year. It will mean SO much more to them than the same gesture today.
Totally agree that the day is a big commercial 'holiday'
I have never embraced that element of it...

I think this video has been the best part of my Valentine's day as of yet.
I knew he was an actor. I had no idea he was a teaxcher. And I'm SO happy to hear he's a good one!
Jordan, I can send my friend over. He loves horror movies! And to think, I cancelled my trip up there since I will possibly be making my move there next week. Oh well....BOO!
PJ- He was life changing. A truly excellent man.
He was teaching at the College of Santa Fe, but there has been a lot going on lately with the state of the college, so I'm not even sure if there IS a college right now, or if he is still there. At any rate, ever show he directs now has a song sung by her in it.
