Am I the only one who thinks Nikki's two personalities have nothing to do with her powers?
I'm totally convinced that she developed split personality disorder in her youth because of the emotional trauma her father and "Jessica" referred to. It would have been a coping device her mind used after her sister's death. It is common in these cases for one personality remembers what happens to both personalities, while the other would lose time and not be able to remember what was done when the other personality had surfaced. (By the way, split personality disorder is NOT schizophrenia. I've heard some people refer to her behavior as schizophrenic.)
Of course, there remains the question of why only Jessica has the super-strength and fighting ability. I think this is a product of mental instability, her mind kind of blocking off the ability when she's Nikki. The mind is incredibly powerful and I would have no doubt in its potential to do something like that.
I don't really see why she would have formed another personality that claimed to be her sister unless it was a psychological coping mechanism in response to her sister's death.
I've often thought of this, but then how would you explain what happens when she looks at herself in the mirror? The image on there is clearly not her reflection but someone else.
It does seem like her power is super strength but I wonder it she is channeling Jessica's power (in the way Peter can channel everyone else's powers) or if it is her own power. Like I said, it's time for the writers to define where they are going with her.
OK,
I am finally caught up. I find this show to be pretty well plotted, but in general the dialogue and acting is often a little lacking. Does anyone else feel like it is sort of Diet "Lost"?
That being said it is greatly improving as it goes on, and the writers are doing a good job of setting up many interesting possibilities for the future of the show.
I am not sure what direction I want the show to take after the two main storylines (Sylar and he Bomb) are resolved. Part of me wants the Heroes to start to band together and form a superhero group, just because I think the dynamics of those very diverse characters would make for some interesting relationships (and in a few years....Claire and Peter would definitely start to become an item...once its no longer statuatory rape, that is). But then again, that has been done before and it could risk turning into a cheap X-Men knockoff.
My guess is that the next major plotline will involve Linderman and figuring out who he is and what exactly his organization does. Who knows...maybe the Heroes will team up in that sense, to collectively figure out what is going on.
Also it reminds me a lot of the graphic novels called Powers, by Brian Michael Bendis, which is about two cops (a female and male with powers) who are in charge of cases that have to do with superpowers. The first major story arc is figuring out who killed a major Superhero figure. People should look into it, the writing is great. It manages to balance great plotting with witty dialogue.

The whole "figure out who's killing the superheroes" thing is the driving force the animates the amazing Watchmen, as well, but only Dr. Manhattan has real superpowers in that story.
ANYWAY. I watched all 11 episodes in one go because I'm insane, and I'm loving that casting spoiler that was posted before. If it's really true, that would be brilliant, because I loved that actor in that other show. :)
Anyone watch last night? What do we think?
It looks like Niki just might have super powers after all, judging from the whole breaking the nightstick in two thing.
I thought that at that point she went into Jessica though, I may be wrong.
I loved the episode.
yeah, she was jessica when she broke the nightstick.
it was a great episode, and then ending was so thrilling. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Even if she was, it was still superhuman strength, so it is most likely an actual power and not just a psychological thing...
Finally saw it last night.
This show gets better and better.
SO did I understand correctly and is the Haitian the one that erases memories? Because he did mention that he was not responsible for erasing Claire's friend's memory, it was her dad.
And can I just saw that I totally called the "Hiro in the Museum of Natural History" image.
I thought the Haitian was being figurative when he said that. As in, he was ordered to do it, he works for her dad, it's not his fault, it's her dad's fault, etc.

Yeah, he erased her friend's memories. He's just saying that he didn't do it of his own free will.
Although everyone IS responsible for their own actions.
HELLO PEOPLE
Awesome episode and the previews for next week...WOW!
^ I disagree. This recent episode was very boring and predictable. The episode for next week looks better but who knows. I stopped listening to the previews a long time ago. Only one or two episodes have lived up to the previews.

Has anyone noticed that the symbol on Hiro's sword is the same as the tattoo on Nikki/Jessica's shoulder?
They haven't directly revealed that, however in last weeks episode when Hiro finds the sword in the museum, the next scene is in Isaacs apartment and there is a painting of Nikki looking over her shoulder which shows her tattoo.
(crawls back under rock)
wow! I never saw that. Now I am intrigued even more. I thought the episode was great,
***spoiler**** I was shocked when her "mother" also survived the fire. I can't wait till next week when we get to meet her father.
favorite line of the night: Hiro saying "This is how we roll".
Has anyone noticed that the symbol on Hiro's sword is the same as the tattoo on Nikki/Jessica's shoulder?
AND it's on the Haitian's necklace, AND the parents of the little girl in Greg Grunberg's first episode were killed in the shape of the symbol, AND the symbol was also floating in the pool during the first scene between Grunberg and Clea DuVall.
No, I don't watch for every little detail on this show...
Not trying to be rude or anything, but I find it hard to believe that anyone HASN'T noticed that symbol. It's like, what links all of them. Also, in the lines of DNA or whatever research was on Sarish's (crap, is that his name?) were in that shape too. Anyway, I just watched the episode online, and it wasn't the greatest but I think it really set up some cool stuff to happen next week.
I hate Clea. I dunno why.
Come on! ****SPOILERS****
Good stuff with invisible guy, faking out Nathan and MoHottie
Claire and her mom...now her real dad too, micah....some very cool stuff..and how can you not LOVE anything with Hiro!
The invisible guy/Peter was the most interesting thing about that episode, and I'm excited to see more of it in the next episode or two.
I was so excited to see Dr. Who on Heroes!
And hands down best moment of the episode was that they subtitled "gulp"
Yeah, Hiro's subtitled lines definately stole the show last night.
Oh, and George Takei and Hiro's father made my night.
When the Haitian mentioned Claire's mom died in an explosion I figured her father was the guy we saw on the past episode creating mini-explosions in the middle of nowhere. Anyone else thought of this? It was suggested that this would be the person whose powers Peter would absorb and create the explosion.
The Sylar episode was too predictable. I wish they got rid of him, he seems to distract from the main plot.
They have got to start giving Nikki something to do with the bigger picture. I hope they know what they're doing with her. I still don't get the whole Jessica/Nikki issue and I especially don't get how it ties up to the rest of the characters.
