#1Hilarious MJ joke at my local pub

This evening down at my local, the bartender who is a realllllll lunkhead (somewhere in his 20s and married and cute in a soon-to-go-to-seed-Irish-drinker kinda way) noticed Michael Jackson Death Coverage on the many flat screens that usually show this or that sporting event above the bar.
"Hey," he says with a chuckle to a regular at the other end of the bar, "Did you hear what Michael Jackson's last wish was?"
The regular replied, "No."
The lunkhead amended the question, "Did you hear what his last wish was on the way to the hospital? He asked to be taken to the children's hospital!"
Oh, I have to say, it was so fresh and original and only slightly less well worded than the comedic gold JoeKV and Liverpool were coming up with in the now apparently deleted "Is it too soon...?" thread. In fact, I sort of wondered if the bartender WAS either of them.

People are always going to make jokes. But should you let it get to you? No. Why? Because life goes on. MJ jokes are always going to be rampant throughout the entertainment industry no matter what.
Besides, parents should be more worried about their children getting eaten by Liverpool than a dead Michael Jackson. Or their children getting thrown out of their cars by their husbands or kidnapped by their druggy babysitters. Or being adopted by Ryan O'neal.
But do you see what I'm saying here? Just my two cents.

Posted: 6/29/09 at 10:12amThe only really funny joke I've heard about his death was the one that involved Farrah Fawcett at the pearly gates.

So Namo why do you care so much about Micheal Jackson? You're not really known for your tender mercies- what is it about the passing of this odd man-boy that brings out this gentle side?
If i were at your local pub, I would have joined in your contempt for this bartender- I really get mad when people can't tell a joke. i can forgive unfunny, but there is NO EXCUSE for poor joke construction.

"i can forgive unfunny"
Clearly. The unfunniness is the only thing that offended me in your joke thread.

Posted: 6/29/09 at 5:02pmOK. I always liked the 'Boys pants half off line and thought the jockey joke was great. Farrah in heaven was good because it was fresh and only be told in this circumstance. But I guess I always look for the good in things.

Posted: 6/29/09 at 5:32pmPerhaps his ascent to the other side was just like that of Tim Robbins' character in "Jacob's Ladder" -- I mean, right down to the person playing the angelic figure? (no, not Danny Aiello)

My favorite one was after Leonard Bernstein died.
"Do you know what Leonard Bernstein is doing?"
"He's de-composing."

And unless someone has video and evidence of what he was accused of, it really shouldn't be anyone's business anymore.
No, you're wrong. He was a public figure. We can say whatever we want.
Also, according to the law, a public figure has a right to privacy and freedom from libel ONLY up until death.
