Folks, the GOP took MD of all places which I believe to be harbinger of things to come two years out. In the post-Vietnam era, typically governors become two-term presidents, Obama being a notable exception. Presidents of the era without governor credentials have not fared so well in office, e.g. Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and George H. W. Bush.

Obama was not betrayed as badly by his colleagues as L. B. Johnson. However, the fact that so many opted to distance themselves from the mild economic recovery & secure homeland under Obama's watch defies logic. And as fond as I am of the FLOTUS, diva-worship does not get a Dem elected to Congress during mid-terms by all appearances, no misogyny intended. I found the mantra of yes to Michelle but no to the POTUS somewhat disturbing on several levels.

It's only natural that voter (and donor) fatigue set in during a president's second term in office, especially where mid-terms are concerned. But, the congressional Dems up for re-election oddly let the GOP spin machine set the narrative for the races and cowered at any dip in their polling numbers...shout-out to henrikegerman.

Finally, the GOP all but assured that HRC will be a one-term president akin to Jimmy Carter. It's written in the stars.

No. We assume that the overwhelming majority of everyone is interested in their being afforded equal rights under the law.

I guarantee you if marriage was denied to straight people, straight people by and large would be outraged, and not just those interested in being married. I also guarantee you that if men made 77 cents on the dollar to what men make, men would by and large be outraged, and not just men who cared inordinately about money. The issue is equality not whether one is particularly interested in getting married or in making bucks.

It's tough to do that when a lot of people are uneducated or only hear what they want (Goth) to hear. The fact that poor people don't understand the Republicans don't give a sh*t about them, and never will, but keep voting for them, is very disturbing.

Everyone wants change, but old white men want change the MOST, which is why they went out and voted yesterday. The turnouts for yesterday's election is despicable.

One point I'm not seeing here is:

The Clintons couldn't get anyone elected in Arkansas.

Not only that, he doesn't seem to know what the meaning of the word he used ("culmination") is. The end game. That's it. That's all they have.

The pendulum's swinging every two years now, and the country has no political memory except that "change" will be the biannual answer.

javero, I agree with PJ. I think you are giving the Republicans too much credit about engineering this election result. This election is mostly about the Obama Presidency. It is also about the way Harry Reid ran the Senate. The Republicans did use that just like the way the Democrats used the Bush missteps and disasters to win the Presidency and Congress previously. Obama's ineptitude doesn't rise to the level of Bush but it was enough.

When an administration does a poor job or a job that is perceived as poor, the other side wins. I don't think this group of Republicans was smart enough to orchestrate this outcome.
