How does this not rhyme?

To Jorge: Because an unaccented "fer" is too weak an end syllable to sustain a rhyme cadence when the preceding syllables don't rhyme at all.

To Everyone Else: Have you ever considered that trying to sincerely answer a well-intentioned question might be a preferable course to insulting the asker?

-ifer and -eiffer don't rhyme, just as summer and after don't rhyme just because they both end with er..

It's not just the last syllable, its the word entirely, also the stressed part of the word throws it.

What you have there is a slant (or near) rhyme. And whoever called you out on it is a bit of a turd. (unless Lizzie's comments come into play.)

Nope....that's not so at all. It only has to do with the sound. Even the same word rhymes with itself (identical rhyme). Forage and Porridge rhyme....both with the ridj soud.

It rhymes.
