Hello ladies! I haven't made a post in a long while. So we opened Much Ado About Nothing and today is closing night happiness :D. My thoat hurts like a b*tch. I don't know how I'm going to sing today. So I was on as Sexton yesterday and had a major line flub. I said "And this is more sirs that you can deny. Pgfuioxdnskdsfnfoisnb Prince John in this manner accused and in this manner refused...and upon the grief of this, Hero suddenly died." This is the real line: "And this is more, masters, than you can deny. Prince John is this morning secretly stolen away. Hero was in this manner accused and in the manner refused, and upon the grief of this, suddenly died." I wanted to die. It was really embarrassing.

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

Aw, SAMN! Don't beat yourself up about it. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, screws lines up now and again. Not to mention that it's Shakespeare, so I'm guessing the bulk of the audience had no idea.

I don't know, I think I would have spotted that "Pgfuioxdnskdsfnfoisnb," is a famous quote from The Merchant of Venice, not Much Ado. happiness :D

Oh, Shakespeare's the best playwright for balls-ing up though. We rewrote half of MAAN this summer, but because we'd developed the art of "just keep going", I'm sure the audience didn't notice. Unless they were paying VERY close attention, in which case they'd've noticed that in our version, Hero was now to marry Don Pedro and Claudio was the big bad. XD Likewise, I once saw an Othello that was surtitled for deaf audiences, and it was only because of the wild differences between the words on the screen and the words coming out of the actors' mouths that I noticed Iago generally didn't know what he was meant to be saying at any given time, and Gratiano and Lodovico had been combined into one. :3 Even the likes of Patrick Stewart tend to go in for *ahem* "paraphrasing". happiness :D

Hi there ladies.
I just wanted to share that I witnessed an amazing performace of RoA tonight (more details in the love thread) and I think I almost had a heart attack when I got to see Mitch Jarvis at the stage door. Thankfully he was so wiped that I was deterred from making to big an ass of myself. God do I like that man <3

Of course, haha.
Mostly just of everyone, they all seemed pretty tired & in a bit of a rush to head home, but they were nice all the same.
But I just couldn't forgive myself if I let Mitch get away without taking a picture, the one of him and my brother came out SOO great, but my brother doesnt really do pictures so the one of me isn't as good :-/ Once I upload them all I'll probably post over in the love thread, and of course on Facebook.

I know! I've been waiting for people to comment back on my threads, to no avail. Aside from my MJ-High that I'm hanging onto, nothing much has changed.

Tofu - Paychecks are always a good thing, don't knock it.

WithoutLove - Have fun in the city! Whatcha doing down there? Sunday was so gorgeous, it was a treat to be able to stage door in November and not catch hypothermia.

Schmerg - Lol Narnia

I'm going to see Ragtime and pretty much just hanging around the city for a day!

I have never looked that far into Ragtime until I saw the rehearsal footage for the revival a while back, so I went on youtube and watched the Tony performance from the original cast. Is it sad that I started tearing while up watching it? The music is so beauitful and the opening number is explosive. I'm hoping the revival does a tour so I can see it.

I just noticed that BWW changed what you see when you click on someone's profile...it doesn't seem to show any of the posts you make in the off-topic board, just the main board. I find that kind of annoying for some reason...

Oh, and you can also see how many times someone viewed your profile! I guess that's helpful if you think you are a stalking target...

Hope everyone is well...it seems really quiet around here lately.
