I'm absolutely serious--if a 13 year old posts his address, phone number, parents names, and other information on a website in order to lure someone to his house for sex, then yes, he does indeed share SOME blame for his circumstances--

This is from the link I mentioned earlier:

"Three of these states--Indiana, Vermont and South Dakota--allow 10-year-olds to be prosecuted as adults."

So if a 10-year old can be prosecuted for violent crime, I don't think it's a huge leap to hold the same 10 year old PARTLY responsible for putting himself into jeopardy.

I'm not saying the kid is asking for it, but he's hardly INNOCENT. He's not a total victim--save that for the kids who are grabbed from the sidewalk or from their rooms at night--THOSE kids are the INNOCENT victims--it IS entirely possible to be a victim and not be innocent.

Yes, the adult is the one who should know better, but we don't live in that kinda of a world, Thelma! And a kid who's smart enough to post info on the net is almost certainly aware of what can happen--just like the kid who takes the car out for a joy ride--he's not ignorant of the fact that cars crash and people die is he?

How many people involved in this discussion actually work or interact with ten year olds on a regular basis? The argument that a ten year old is emotionally mature enough to understand the consequences of their actions online is ridiculous especially when we are talking about sex. They've barely started puberty, or not started at all.

I have to disagree with you lildog. What you are saying reminds me of the people who blame a woman for being raped because she looked and dressed in a sexy manner.

I think we all are or were at one time faced with an opportunity or were tempted to commit a crime in our lives but we didn't do it because we aren't criminals. Those who do commmit the crime are to blame, not the temptation. That's how I feel about it.

This entire conversation brings up many issues.

The one I'm interested in is this countries disgusting habit of treating kids as adults when it comes to crimes and as children when it comes to sex, especially gay sex.

Personally I believe they are children til they reach 17, or 18.

The fact that 13 and 14 year olds are tried as adults in this country should be an embarrassment to us all. But hardly surprising considering the idiot we have in the white house and his totally corrupt administration , who as governor had more people executed than any other governor. But if the same kids, that they want to treat as adults, have sex,especially with a man, then they are treated as kids. What hypocrites these Repulse icans are.
