So sorry sweetie, You were both lucky to have each other for 30 years to love.

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

So sorry, Jane. As for getting over it, don't worry about that for now. Let your feelings out (which it sounds like you're doing), and let your emotions take their natural course. Grief is a part of letting go, and you will be able to in time. Thinking of you.

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

how do you get over this?

My heart goes out to you, Jane. There will come a day when thoughts of Robbie Sue will bring a smile to your face instead of tears, but right now, you need to allow your heart the time it needs to mend.

I own a pet grooming salon so I've not only been through the loss of my own pets, but I've also seen the heartbreaking grief my clients feel when they lose their beloved pets. It is SO hard, but you will get through it. I promise!

Sorry to hear of your loss. It has to be even more difficult being away from home at this time. You always spoke of Robbie Sue with such affection and pride. I'm sure she knew she was oved. As Melicus and Tazber pointed out, time heals and eventually softens the pain.

Have a safe flight home.
Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

There's something about losing a pet, especially one you've spent so much time with. Their love is unconditional. It's a special kind of relationship that reminds us that humans aren't the only ones who occupy this planet.

Anyway Jane, I've been there.

Wow Jane! So sorry to hear about Robbie Sue. I can't add any more than what has already been said. PJ's poem was beautiful!

Jane, I feel so awful. I could tell from all of your posts about him that you really loved Robbie Sue, and I can't believe it happened so suddenly.

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

OMG Jane - I'm so very, very sorry. I'm sitting here at work, crying my eyes out because of the heartbreak I know you are feeling. Robbie Sue wasn't just a pet. After all this time, she was a companion. A partner. I know this is leaving a big hole in your heart. It will heal in time - but the scar it leaves will never go away.

Keep busy. Concentrate on work or other interests until the healing starts.

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

I'm home. I can't and won't upset anyone with what I faced when I saw him in the cage. He's now wrapped in a cloth, I put some hearts jewelry in with him, and now I'm worried because I can't let go of him in the cloth. I'm rocking him, crying, and I wont let go.

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

Jane - I'm sorry to hear this news too. I wish there was something I could do to help.

Grief is a strange thing - there are the immediate and obvious ways it expresses itself, as you are experiencing now. And then there are the less obvious and unexpected ways that come to the surface later and you don't even realise they're a form of grief until afterwards.

Don't worry about not letting him go.

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

Oh Jane, what can I say except it just #*%ing $ucks.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

Scripps-I'm worried because I've been clutching him to my heart very tightly for three hours and I'm not ready to put him down, ever. Have I gone off the deep end?

Ofcourse you haven't Jane - you're expressing all the emotions that come to the surface at times like this. Carry right on expressing them.

re: My beloved Robbie Sue has died

Totally agree with Scripps. You're still in shock. You had no idea that anything was wrong and then suddenly...that's what happened with my mom. She was only 60. She was alive that morning and gone that evening of a pulmonary embolism. I never got to say goodbye. Yesterday marked the 16th anniversary of her death. It's a loss that's just hard to describe. Robbie Sue was beautiful. It's okay to grieve that hard.
