Is he driving there on the wheels of a dream? I'll bet he is redhotin a swing! Let us know how it goes. Namo, Papermill pays VERY well, by the way. Is Tinny Equity?

Congrats! Few people have the "juevos" to do that....they just take it.
I told my current boss once, that I had two parents over 80, and certainly did NOT need a third parent.........he's never bothered me again.

Sueleen - unfortunately, they're not late-nighters, they're early risers HR, HR
#137

HR, HR

Do you have to be one or the other? Cuz I am always an early riser. I just don't always get out of bed very early.HR, HR
PEACE.
#138

HR, HR

I seem to be both - I guess I DO go both ways.
#139

HR, HR

actually, he's the early-nighter/late-riser (if at all possible), while i'm the late-nighter/early-riser (not by choice)... and DG, remember, he hasn't auditioned in several years, and times have changed... what was true then about the ease of work, may not be so true now for him...

ok - here I am - I had no idea this thread was gonna resurface!...LOL....if you're asking how it went with leaving the job - it was a tough few days - but I did it and I'm free. I decided that since I'm unemployed, I might as well go to an audition or two - and yesteday I went to the Chorus call for Ragtime - I had forgotten what madhouses chorus calls can be - hundreds of guys crammed into a rehearsal room while they wait to receive their number, then you wait for hours ( I waited for 3 hours until I could sing my 16 bars!)...but you never know - this is how people get cast in things and if you don't show up, you have no chance - so I did my part and sang my little ditty and went home to have dinner with my husband.
The rest is in the Good Lord's hands!LOL....
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" ah here you are! I was looking on the wrong thread for an audition report...

You gave us all the physical details - but how did it feel to be back in one of those rooms??

Congratulations!! It's difficult to do these things, but it always works out for the best. I've recently made an entire career switch, and I'm *very* glad I did. You will be, too :) Yay! *big hugs*

it felt strange to be there - I was nervous, of course, but once I got in the room and gave the instructions to the accompanist - it went very well (at least from inside my head). I finally enjoyed myself while I was singing - (something I feel that I do fairly well when the Gods are smiling down on me!)...it helped to run into someone I hadn't seen in years - we chatted for about an hour right up to my time to sing =- which really helped me to warm up. Everyone approaches it differently -but I like to be talking and enjoying myself up to a few moments before the audition - it helps me forget to be nervous.

Were there any HOT guys there? What did you sing? When will you hear? God I hope you get it, I hope you get it. How many people do they need? How many boys? How many girls? You really need this job!
PEACE.

Yes Sueleen, there were hot guys there - have you ever been to an audition where there weren't? (oh, I suppose it could be a casting for Sancho in Man of La Mancha or something - but otherwise no)...I felt SO old - and there were really only a handfull of guys there who were my age - we must be the diehards. I sang "Like a Baby" from Closer Than Ever - it has great long lines and is so rich sounding and full of opportunities to expose your soul - so I love it. The only real reason I went to this call is because I'm a redhead and I figure - hey, its Ragtime -they must need some irish immigrants, right?LOL.....

AND because you have a gorgeous voice that is perfectly suited to this show!!! I'm so proud of you. And thrilled that you enjoyed the actual singing in the actual audition. You've won the battle right there.

Why Thank you, Rath - I needed to hear that!...yes - I patted myself on the back as I left the building - I got through it and hopefully made a good impression. AS my acting teacher always told us - never audition for the role - Audition for your reputation. Meaning that we may go to 150 auditions before getting a part - but if we do well in all those auditions, we will end up in someone important's files and possibly be hired one day in the future. I got my first professional gig from a dropped resume...literally. A friend of mine was working at a theatre that I had auditioned for several months back, and for some reason that I can't remember, she had a copy of my resume and head shot in her music folder. She was at a rehearsal and dropped my headshot on the ground, right as the producer was walking by -he picked it up and asked her how she knew me and said he remembered me from my audition and needed a male of my type for the ensemble of their next show - so he called me and offered it to me - I tell ya, stranger things have happened in this world - but I'll always be greatful to that gal for carrying my headshot around with her!!

As someone who has recently begun auditioning again myself, I know the difference between when I've enjoyed myself singing and not. And that's been the difference between booking the job - and not.

And that "audition for your reputation" piece of advice is extremely sage.
