Exactly, I don't think it was ever a secret Johnny is gay. And if she would have asked Johnny if he were gay, he wouldn't have denied it. He's been himself no matter what, and he's taken the **** for it. He was royally screwed at the olympics.

But Evan Lysacek has this facade going on, for whatever reason and most people know it's a pile of crap.

I think they are both amazing artists, I just don't see why this is an issue.

Chrysanthemum, if there was a drop of truth to what you said I might agree- but the fact is, no matter how flaming he is, for whatever reason, Johnny Weir doesn't ever say he's gay. He's coy, he's vague, he's silent. I thought the argument everyone was making about Ricky Martin is that it doesn't matter if "Everyone knows"- what matters is you say the words. Johnny Weir is no more out than Evan Lysacek.

I read AE for their live blogs of my soap opera (OLTL) cause their blogger Snicks is friggin hilarious.

But YES...the pearl clutching. And the contempt they have for actors (even though they will pimp their sh*t out whenever there's something to discuss) makes me crazy.

He doesn't really HAVE to come out and the reason he doesn't just come right out and say it is probably because he can't. He gets slammed enough in the skating world, marked down because of who he is. Skating is more about politics than it is about talent and if he came out before he retires it would only hurt him more. Also he makes a good point when people ask him about his sexuality he mostly says its none of their business and it really isn't. I find all that outing of celebs really annoying. No one ever has to come out as straight why should anyone HAVE to confirm or deny if they are gay? It's such a double standard.

As for winkgate I think it's a whole lot of nothing. He winked big deal I think he was just having some fun at his rivals expense. It was Chelsea making insinuations and Johnny just fueled the fire, as he often does. I found Chelsea really annoying throughout the entire interview saying Gay every 5 seconds it's like enough already. I'm tired of hearing how flamboyant and feminine Johnny is. He's an athlete and an amazingly talented one, that often puts his foot in his mouth. He's a 3 time National Champion (4 if you count the time he and Evan tied, but they gave it to Evan because he had higher free skate scores), he's a bronze world medalist and yet all people talk about is how gay he is. I've been a big fan of Johnny's for years and it's more about how he is on the ice than off of it. He works hard just like every other skater and yet always gets cut down because he doesn't fit some "manly image" and it's FIGURE SKATING! I just still can't figure out how someone is "too gay" for FIGURE SKATING!

he reminds me of a new age Toller Cranston, who only ever got bronze at the world level and was sheer ballet and genius on ice. brilliant. gay. they knew it. i went to a benefit of his several years back and those skaters don't leave anything to the imagination when in party mode. (kadavy, sumners, etc) they really know one another well. i would like to think that the uncovering of the french/russian judges cheating would put an end to one part of the politics in the sport. we all know how many people have been screwed in figure skating. i don't think being gay lost him anything, many are...and suprisingly to some, many aren't. it is his outspoken nature on many topics. whatever the reason, he needed to be judged on his beautiful skating.

johnny not saying he is gay is not a big deal. it is all semantics. whether he says it or not, people know. he makes it very clear and is very proud of who he is. come on! wanting to wear a ring of roses in his hair at the olympics and proudly listening to lady gaga and loving her. semantics.

outing someone is a ****ty thing to do. but i love Johnny's skating and think he was robbed at the olympics.

I can't stand Evan, but anyway, I thought Johnny looked ridiculous in that video. I get it that he tries very hard to be unique and outrageous, but I don't think he has the taste and/or style to pull it off. Perfect example are his costumes.

^ i can't stand Evan either but I like whatever Johnny does. This interview wasn't his best though and that little "they make a little money" isn't true for everyone. I know someone who did the Tom Collins Tour that made a nice little pay day. and he was a skater from quite a while ago but is a fan favourite, so I can imagine what olympic champions make.

Evan is an idiot for even saying anything.

I saw him skate to "Bad Romance" tonight, and I have to admit: I really, really enjoyed it.

But like really, really, REALLY enjoyed it.

Johnny is fun, lighthearted, and provocative in the most sweet and flirty ways. I don't think any of his camp or jabs are meant to be taken seriously. If you spend anytime watching press with Evan, you come to realize he is the egomaniac who worked his ass off to beat Weir into the ground. I respect his discipline and focus but loathe his hubris (and his overdone spray tans). He makes lots of negative comments about Johnny (which the press clearly egg him into). Then again, the two of them could be aware that the feud is great press, so they prolong it for marketing reasons. Who knows, maybe they are friendly. I enjoyed Johnny referring to Evan as a "slore" (slut/whore) on the Wendy Williams Show-"How You Doin?"

Personally, I don't think Johnny needs to say "I am gay". He is gay, never hides it, but hasn't announced it either. I think its a pretty mature approach to be honest. It's rather normalizing.
