What a disgrace that this peice of garbage was even nominated. It is the only thing about last night that was upsetting. Ladies and Gentlemen; Academy Award winning lyrics;
You know it's hard out here for a pimp (you ain't knowin)
When he tryin to get this money for the rent (you ain't knowin)
For the Cadillacs and gas money spent (you ain't knowin)
] Because a whole lot of bitches talkin s**t (you ain't knowin)
] Will have a whole lot of bitches talkin s**t (you ain't knowin)
In my eyes I done seen some crazy thangs in the streets
Gotta couple hoes workin on the changes for me
But I gotta keep my game tight like Kobe on game night
Like takin from a ho don't know no better, I know that ain't right
Done seen people killed, done seen people deal
Done seen people live in poverty with no meals
It's ****ed up where I live, but that's just how it is
It might be new to you, but it's been like this for years
It's blood sweat and tears when it come down to this ****
I'm tryin to get rich 'fore I leave up out this bitch
I'm tryin to have thangs but it's hard fo' a pimp
But I'm prayin and I'm hopin to God I don't slip, yeah
[Chorus]
Man it seems like I'm duckin dodgin bullets everyday
Niggaz hatin on me cause I got, hoes on the tray
But I gotta stay paid, gotta stay above water
Couldn't keep up with my hoes, that's when **** got harder
North Memphis where I'm from, I'm 7th Street bound
Where niggaz all the time end up lost and never found
Man these girls think we prove thangs, leave a big head
They come hopin every night, they don't end up bein dead
Wait I got a snow bunny, and a black girl too
You pay the right price and they'll both do you
That's the way the game goes, gotta keep it strictly pimpin
Gotta have my hustle tight, makin change off these women, yeah

I think Stewart put things very succinctly last evening.
I am happy that the life-long struggle of "the pimp" is finally being talked about.
I know. But I am still outraged.

Except that Scorcese was never nominated for Best Song, so they really have nothing to do with each other.
It still sucks the big wad.

The next big musical:
"Pimpin' Aint Easy" with the opening number "It's hard out here for a pimp".
If it won the academy award, it might just win the Tony!

Kringas, who made the Scorcese comment originaly?
Well I'm assuming there's nothing we can do about it, so shouldn't we spend our time trying to care about things we actually can change?

Jon Stewart.
It still sucks the big wad.
Why? Because the award went to a hip-hop song? Just a few years ago the award went to a song with the riveting lyrics "Near. Far. Wherever you are."

Finally, someone who is willing to show the deep roots of what it means to be a pimp. Poetry. Absolute brilliance.

I still think Crash's song was better.
Yeah, I've heard worse Oscar winning songs than this one. But those were by white people, so it's okay, right?

A lot of songs that won sucked...and this is no exception.
It's hard out here for a pimp...when you're busy exploiting women...

Eh, the song worked in Hustle & Flow. Should Howard have not been nominated as well?
Actually, a few years ago, Entertainment Weekly pointed out that Eminem had more Oscars than Martin Scorcese, so I guess Stewart just picked it up.

Now I've got TITANIC stuck in my head.
I really enjoyed the interpretive dance for the song. Although Crash's was better, with the slow-motion groping.
Jerry Herman will turn Hustle and Flow into a musical called "Hello, Pimp!"
Dolly Parton was totally charming and should have won the Oscar as well as Felicity!
It IS hard out here for a pimp. Y'all just be hatin'.

Nah...Terrance Howard was awesome. I mean it did work for the movie and I liked it in the movie, but I just don't people to take the message in this song seriously.
Anyway, this isn't the WORST song to win the Best Song category. I mean I don't even think it's the worst song to win in the past five years.

Is that what it's called?
I'm not a dancer.
Yeah, white people really need more oscars.
Scorsese: 0
Kubrick: 0
Hitchcock: 0
Three 6 Mafia: 1
I know they're entirely different animals, but still...

Oh come on BobbyBuddy...are you saying Hustle and Flow deserved to win Best Song just because Bird York and Dolly Parton are white? They don't have Oscars either.
BTW, Pimp was the second best song of the three nominated. A part of me is thrilled that it beat Crash's snooze-inducing performance.
