JLAW: Illegal To Call Someone Fat

Why is it that liberals always want to make everyone's thoughts illegal?

"Jennifer Lawrence said ”it should be illegal” to call someone fat and, in an interview with Barbara Walters, railed against people who bash the way women look."

Goth, do you ever strike yourself as tedious?
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Borstal, in typical liberal fashion, you always want someone else to do the work for you. If you find me tedious

a) ignore my posts

b) use the "block user" feature

If I could, I would do it for you, but I can't.

Should it also be illegal that I have no clue who Jennifer Lawrence is?

You seem to be unable to distinguish between thoughts and spoken comments, as well as being unable to comprehend rhetoric.

"Why is it that liberals always want to make everyone's thoughts illegal"

Let me guess!

Wait.....

Uhm... Because conservatives can't make any money off of it?

Because conservatives can't ship the job overseas?

Or did your weekly talking points say to mention it?

Considering she framed it as an extension of the morality laws campaigned for by conservative people--no nudity, no curse words, nothing too sexual or too violent, I'd say she's actually playing into a conservative view point of media. All those other things are censored on TV because conservatives fear they will negatively impact children. Why not add another restriction to the pile?

You're missing the point of the Republican game, trent. You need to cut out all context and use quotes to mean something completely different than they were intended.

As usual Gothampc is THE BIGGEST LOSER. Buh-bye.

P.S. Just in case you're still doing a compendium of my snarky comments you can add that one to the list to.

Politics aside, I don't understand why it could be illegal. So, if someone calls you fat, you can call the police and arrest them? or sue them?

It's an extreme comment, but the dialogue it's starting is great.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

I can just see it now. A woman calls over the nearest cop she sees on the street. She points to another person waiting to cross. "She called me fat" says the woman. 'Arrest her." Cop takes fat woman to Bellievue.

JLAW: Illegal To Call Someone Fat

She's not talking about calling someone fat in real life at all. She specifically mentions what should be allowed on TV, which (as trent pointed out) conservatives are more than happy to censor and police. From the link Goth posted:

"The media needs to take responsibility for the effect that it has on our younger generation, on these girls who are watching these television shows, and picking up how to talk and how to be cool. I mean, if we’re regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words, because of the effect they have on our younger generation, why aren’t we regulating things like calling people fat?”

So apart from her not being a liberal and not suggesting it be illegal to call someone fat, Goth's post was accurate?

Unless it's to advocate anything even remotely PC. Then it's suddenly infringing on "freedom of speech".

Should it also be illegal that I have no clue who Jennifer Lawrence is?

No, I don't think anyone expected you to know who she is, but we're so grateful you confirmed it for us. Thank you. Your gift basket containing a skinned rabbit, a bottle of perfume, a copy of Lord of the Flies and two cornucopias is in the mail.
