Honestly, Whoopi has lasted alot longer than I expected but I don't think she's getting alot of offers to act so this is her job/income. A friend who works in production for ABC said there are rumors of Barbra stepping out and only focusing on producing. My question is, who will replace Joy? Any suggestions?

The story I heard concerning Barbara is that although she's a producer, correct?, they want to replace her, and she's not happy at all. the person that was mentioned to take her place is Maria Shriver.

Really? I honestly think she's the main reason that the show is still running. She doesn't have to worry about not being offered acting jobs lately.

I find Maria Shriver BEYOND boring. The other rumor is that they want Brooke Sheilds once she's done with Army Wives. WHICH would make sense because she's been co-hosting alot lately. Here are my wants: Brooke Shields, Jenny McCarthy, Ali Wentworth.

I say this out of concern and love but has Maria Shriver even consumed a solid morsel of food in the last 15 years? If the camera adds 20 pounds, how is she alive? The show is called The View not The Scream.

Jordan I think the point is she'd bring some youthfulness and edginess to it. Honestly, I LOVE her but don't see her working in a group. Meant to be a solo act.

About 13 years ago, I saw Maria Shriver on the beachwalk in Santa Monica. A friend later asked "How did she look?", my response -- "Older, shorter and thinner than she looks on television. I mean, she makes Kate Moss look fat!"

Thanks to Jenny McCarthy's idiotic anti vaccine movement we are having the worst whooping cough outbreak in 70 years. Whooping cough! She's stupid and anti science and she doesn't belong on a show where she can preach her nonsense as fact.

Brooke, I could see. Also doubt she and Jenny McCarthy would see eye to eye, as the group who lent most credence to McCarthy's anti-vaccine BS was the Church of Scientology.
Soledad O'Brien would be like Lisa Ling redux. Why would we have such a smart, incredibly serious woman be on this kind of programming?
Shriver would be boring but I can imagine she would take Barbra's mantle as the self-serious, driver of the panel.
And there's got to be a conservative thrown in there now that Elisabeth is leaving because that producer of the show often fed her the talking points. My money's on Janine Turner or Campbell Brown.

Namo, you know that guy, MIke Walker? He's a gossip columnist who seems to have a lot of correct inside scoop. He said that the View would like to get rid of Barbara and get a little new blood, and she wasn't happy. they mentioned Maria Shriver.

To whomever said "the producer fed Elisabeth talking points," I'm not a big fan of her, myself, but Elisabeth didn't really need him to feed her Republican talking points. (What she does need is for Bill Geddie and Barbara to teach her how to make a subtle transition and eliminate verbal crutches between questions to guests, and how not to sound like an idiot when she's assigned the simple sign-off, "take a little time to enjoy The View." She always sounds awkward and unprofessional as an announcer at these moments, and not so when she's passionately harping about some political thing. You'd think 9 years would have done the trick for these basic "talk show host making viewers feel comfortable" elements.)
So, a) even if Geddie did feed her talking points, consider how silly it would be that all these rumors of her being fired, are. Wouldn't he *want* her to stay on, as the lone Conservative? b) I've also noticed, that the older she gets, and the more kids she has, she's really mellowed out on her, well, Conservative rage that she used to exhibit. So the rumor that "she's not popular with audiences" as a reason for this "fired" rumor also strikes me as incongruous, since she's gotten more palatable and less shrill over the years (slight though it is), than she used to be.
