Wow, Rath - that's quite a line-up. And no one deserves it more than Ms. Harris!
Oooh thanks for the info. I hope she does a number from Skyscraper.
Actually, they're going to be doing a parody of Broadway Baby.
Damnit! I want a Skyscraper medley!
So produce your own Harris tribute!
Ach, I forgot to post after I saw this show in October. Although I have never seen Ms. Z sing or dance, I can understand why she has a following.
She shined in her role and has a wonderful, warm presence. Rath, I thought of you during one scene where she is by herself and is supposedly looking in a mirror and primping. She was facing the audience and after adjusting her chest area, she started doing a shimmy, acting quite the vixen. It was so funny. My thought was ohh, I bet Rath would LOVE this!
John Astin was a super ham, and very engaging. He seemed to have great fun with his role. Actually, the whole cast seemed like they had fun. I especially liked Ian Kahn, who played one of the two "women."
The show overall was a predictable, cheeseball 50's type comedy, a pleasant way to spend part of an afternoon. And hey, I can't have too bad a time when *I* am one of the youngest in an audience. The theater was filled with a mass of gray hair. It was good to see that they seemed to enjoy the show immensely. One of the biggest laughs was over a line about dying, "Old people...they just hang on for spite!"
Kennedy Center Honors to be Broadcast Dec. 27
I liked the Kennedy Center Honors more when we had a Democrat for President. I doubt Bush even knows WHO Julie Harris is.
I bet he does - he probably watched Knots Landing.
That would require some kind of taste on his part.
i wonder if W will chew gum as he did throughout the james earl jones tribute.

Another Ziemba /Julie Harris connection:
Julie Harris starred in the play MARATHON '33, by June Havoc, based on her experience as a marathon dancer. (Harris, well into her 30's, played the 16-year-old June.) KZ, of course, starred in STEEL PIER.
Anyone planning on attending this?
